初读《简爱》，翻开一页页的纸张，细品那些饱含复杂情感的文字。作者的感情便悄然入心，令我不禁热泪盈眶。
很久以前，在英国某个郡的一座宅府中，可以依稀听见一个女人尖利的叫骂声和一个小女孩的哭泣声，接着那个小女孩带着眼泪，跌跌撞撞的走进那间凄清的育儿室。这个让我心中为之一颤的不幸的女孩竟生长在了这么一个恶劣的环境中。育儿室中烛光摇曳，那个小女孩握紧了拳头，仿佛诉说着自己不公平的待遇和悲惨的身世。
文章中的主人公，自幼失去双亲，成为了孤儿。于是这个不幸的孤儿，寄人篱下，不得不生活在里德舅妈的家庭中。狠心的里德舅妈那狭窄的心胸不能对自己的孩子和简爱一视同仁，而是处处为难她，甚至折磨她。当自己的儿子出手把简爱打得头破血流的时候，狠心的舅妈不但不怪罪自己的儿子，还把简爱残忍的关进红房子里，让她的身心饱受摧残。
就此，主人公在很小的.时候就已经品尽了人情冷暖，使她练就了敢于反抗的精神和坚强的意志。
当简爱长大之后，里德太太因为她那狭窄的心胸病倒了，简爱不计前嫌，千里迢迢的去看望那个本性难移的舅妈。虽然她自己已经完全原谅了舅妈，但舅妈还是对她如此冷漠仇恨。
这些行为都体现出了简爱善良的品格，这种善良原谅过错的精神，将为她带来更多上帝的眷顾。然而里德太太的冷漠狠毒却为她带来了死亡。
所以，即使环境有多么恶劣，美好的人格总会给自己带来意想不到的惊喜，也会得到更多的上帝的眷顾。
