我心目中的长城长城，是我早已向往的去处。暑假里，我如愿以偿饱览了中华民族古老的长城风光。八达岭耸立在北京西郊，远望起伏连绵，近看山岭陡峭。长城盘旋在山梁上，像腾飞的龙。站在长城上往下看，只见停车场的一辆辆轿车如甲虫，一个个行人如蚂蚁；往上仰望，蓝天白云，烽火台傲然挺立。登长城看起来容易，走起来气喘吁吁，好不容易才走到好汉坡，大家都累得汗流满面。妈妈说：“不到长城非好汉，到了长城不自满。”听了妈妈的鼓励，我又坚持往上登，终于登上了八达岭长城高处——烽火台。
爸爸告诉我：这是古代秦朝，为了防御匈奴的入侵，劳动人民用肩挑手扛，用砖石砌成的。以后逐渐连成了万里长城。我们的心情都很激动，从不同角度，选取不同的景点，拍下了10多个镜头。站在长城上，我浮想联翩：二千多年前，在那么恶劣的条件下，劳动人民就能烧出那么质好量多的火砖，砌成了坚实的城墙，实在是了不起！我们要弘扬中华民族吃苦耐劳、艰苦奋斗的精神，把祖国的各行各业建设得蒸蒸日上、欣欣向荣。长城，被联合国教科文组织列为世界文化遗产。我们要保护好长城，更要弘扬中华民族的历史文化。我今年9岁了，我要好好学习，天天向上，长大了要成为祖国的栋梁之材，为祖国的繁荣富强、为世界的和平幸福，贡献自己的力量。
长城是我国古代劳动人民创造的奇迹。自秦始皇开始，修筑长城一直是一项大工程。据记载，秦始皇使用了近百万劳动力修筑长城，占全国人口的1/20！当时没有任何机械，全部劳动都得靠人力，而工作环境又是崇山峻岭、峭壁深壑。可以想见，没有大量的人群进行艰苦的劳动，是无法完成这项巨大工程的。长城连续修筑时间之长，工程量之大，施工之艰巨，历史文化内涵之丰富，确是世界其他古代工程所难以相比。孙中山评论长城时说：“中国最有名之工程者，万里长城也。工程之大，古无其匹，为世界独一之奇观。”
美国前总统尼克松在参观丁长城后说：“只有一个伟大的民族，才能造得出这样一座伟大的长城”。所以说，长城作为人类历史的奇迹，列入《世界遗产名录》，当之无愧。长城，是我们中国的一条长龙，是见证中国发展的有效见证。所以我们要到长城去玩。这也验证了“不到长城非好汉”的含义。
