It happened shortly after this that the Lion was caught by some hunters, who bound him by strong ropes to the ground. The Mouse, recognizing his roar, came up, and gnawed the rope with his teeth, and setting him free, exclaimed: "You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you, not expecting to receive from me any repayment of your favour; but now you know that it is possible for even a Mouse to confer benefits on a Lion."

The comic book mainly talks about that the hero Xiamuguizhi has a special ability to see the bogies. He is unsociable because his parents are dead. And he often lives in his relatives' home when he is a little boy and his friends at his age always tease him because he has a special ability. Although he experiences many unfortunate things, he is still very kind and without complaint at anyone. Eventually he is adopted by a couple who is very friendly and let him go to high school. One day, He is pursued by a bogie and hid in a shrine. He breaks a powerful bogie‘s seal whose name is Ban. And that involves her grandmother Xiamulingzi’s relics--a contract that sigh with the bogies. Since then, this powerful bogie turns itself into a cat in daily life to stay with Xiamu to protect him with the condition that Xiamu should give the contract to it after he die. But before that Xiamu decides to try his best to give the name in the contracts to the bogies and let them get free. Thus, a loving, touching, scary story is opened up.
《夏目友人帐》主要讲述了男主人公夏目贵志拥有可以看到妖怪的特殊能力。因为父母双亡他的性格较为孤僻，并且由于他具有特殊的能力，他常辗转在于亲戚之间并被同龄人欺负。虽然他经历了许多不幸，但他依旧有好善良没有埋怨任何人。最终他被有好善良的藤原夫妇收养并进入高中。有一天，他被妖怪追赶躲进神社，不小心打破了一只强大妖怪斑的封印。并牵涉到了他祖母夏目玲子的\'遗物—一本同妖怪签订的契约书。之后，这只强大的妖怪平时便变成猫的样子待在夏目身边保护他，但是他的条件是夏目死后要把这本契约书给它。但在此之前夏目决定尽其所能把契约书上的名字还给妖怪们让它们得到自由。由此，一个个温馨、感人、惊险的故事就此展开。

有一天，小刚在外婆家看见墙角有一个很小很小的洞。
这时一只老鼠往洞里跑，他感觉很害怕，心里想我一定帮外婆捉到老鼠，他找来一个竹筒堵住洞口，老鼠以出来就会抓住它，他高兴的坐在竹筒上，等着老鼠出来捉它，小刚等啊等啊，这时竹筒发出老鼠跑出来的声音，他回头一看老鼠从前面钻进来，从后面跑了出去，他很后悔，心想要是把后面堵住，老鼠就不会跑掉了，下次他一定要把后面堵住，捉住老鼠。
睡午觉时，有一只小老鼠竟然爬到我的手上。
这事被我爸爸看见了，他很生气。爸爸先哪了一根竹竿去敲它，没想到老鼠很狡猾，一溜烟躲到墙角去了。爸爸又想到了一个办法：他用冰糕棒棒撑着一块木板，然后把绳子一头栓在冰糕棒棒上，一头拉在自己的手中，并在木版下放上食品。等到老鼠爬到木板下面，爸爸立刻把绳子一拉，老鼠被压死了。
我睡醒了，爸爸才把这件事情告诉我，我很佩服爸爸的精神。

一天晚上，我们正在吃饭，吃到一半，爸爸发现了一只小老鼠突然从客厅快速地跑过去。我吓坏了，连忙把脚抬起来，都不敢着地了。爸爸、妈妈商量着怎样才能捕捉住这只小老鼠。
妈妈说，小时候看过外公做的捕鼠器，虽然方法有点老土，但还是挺管用的，我便让妈妈吃完饭，赶紧做一个试试。她先找了颗花生，剥开取出里面的两粒花生米，然后放在菜油里浸泡了一下，接着让爸爸找出一只小酒盅和一只大碗。制作捕鼠器的材料都准备好之后，就要选择摆放位置了。我说放在从车库上来的楼梯口的角落里，妈妈说好的。只见妈妈先将一粒香喷喷的花生米放在地上，然后轻轻地将小酒盅放在花生米的四分之三处，酒盅外一，酒盅内三，最后再小心翼翼地将大碗压在小酒盅上，碗口一边着地，一边留着一条酒盅高的缝隙。就这样，一个捕鼠器制作完成了。
妈妈告诉我，因为老鼠爱吃香的东西，把花生米浸菜油后，老鼠闻到香味肯定会来偷吃，只要它一动花生米，小酒盅就会滑落，那么上面的那只大碗也就会同时盖住整个地面，小老鼠当然就会被罩在里面，出不来了。哇，想不到这个土法捕鼠器的原理是先诱鼠再捕鼠呢。
捕鼠器放置好之后，我们就上楼看电视去了。当晚，老鼠就被抓住了。第二天，爸爸想把老鼠抓出来放在水里淹死，不料却被它溜之大吉了。妈妈忍不住埋怨了爸爸几句，只好又用花生米浸油再做了两个捕鼠器，放在两个角落里，但却不知道那只小老鼠还会不会再次上当。过了两天，大碗又盖上了，老鼠又被抓住了。不知道它是不长记性呢，还是实在抵不住香喷喷的美食，这下我就不用再害怕担心了。
我们只知道抓老鼠，却不知道用什么办法取出老鼠***死它。为避免它再次逃跑和被它咬到，妈妈说就用碗盖盖个把月吧，活活地饿死它了。
