１、要有计划性。教师心中首先要有个训练线索：初一，以写人记事为主；初二，以状物说明为主；初三以上以叙述议论为主。同时适当加一些其他有关的训练（训练内容安排见下面图示）。各年级内容安排图示
２、用大作文和周记的训练同步配合。把大作文作为片断训练的综合运用，每周一次，应用文也应在大作文本上进行；小作文用来作片断训练；周记本用来作总结。作文片断训练是个“积水成渊”的活动，必须把细致的观察思考和写作结合起来，逐步提高，不能求之过急，不可半途而废，且每前进一步，都作一次小结，写作水平才能竹子开花———节节高。

1、发挥创造力的真正关键，在于如何运用知识。
2、硬币打制器上加上葡萄压榨机的压力。
3、举例。一是约翰将葡萄压榨机和硬币打制器组合起来，发明了印刷机和排版术。二是罗兰通过看电视把电视接收器作为试验对象发明了游戏机。
4、必须有探求新事物，并为此而活用知识的态度和意识，在此基础上，持之以恒地进行各种尝试。

片断训练主要有两种方法：
其一是笔头练。
１、仿写。教师在教课时，可抓住课文中某个细节或片断，结合作文要求加以分析，布置为作文。
仿写，不可照抄照搬，要同中求异，从相同点悟出不同点，“照猫画虎”要画出虎气。例，学习了《故乡》中势利、尖刻、自私的杨二嫂的肖像“漫画”后，可让学生写个有类似性格的现实人物肖像，既写与之相同之处，又表现其不同处：杨二嫂是细脚伶仃的圆规，双手搭在髀间，而现实中也许有个胖萝卜，双手叉在腰际。
２、生发。就是根据课文情节，合理想象，生发开去，加上或延伸课文中的情节，再造细节，这比仿写更进一步了。
例，学习了《皇帝的新装》后可布置“皇帝的避谣演说”；学习了《变色龙》后，可作“奥楚蔑洛夫见到将军哥哥了”等。当然，不必限于课文，还可以找有关的文章作为范文分析，让学生根据其中适合的材料进行片断练习。
３、修改。可采用面改和学生互改两种方式。面改时，指出其优缺点，督促其改正不足，发扬优点。学生互改，实际上就是让他们互相讨论交流、提高的过程。教师可择其善者作为范文，予以评点。
其二是口头练。
这种训练的目的在于给学生提供口头表达机会，弥补笔头练的不足，避免其单调性，增强作文的趣味性，调动其作文积极性。
口头练，题材要选学生最熟悉的，选择范围要大，要多留几个题。除事先布置学生观察外，课内利用几分钟互相讨论，组织材料，以便清楚地表达。讨论３至５分钟后，让学生举手表达；教师对他们的口头作文逐一简评。也可让学生针对某一篇或几篇进行评论，最后师生汇总意见，评出名次。此外，还可让学生把学校的生活片断讲给家里人听，并提醒他用不同的语言向不同的听者表达，同时记下对方的语言动作。这样可以避免学生语言的单调性，学会对不同的人说不同的话，在不同的表达环境用不同的语言。
