合作学习作为一种新型的学习方式，目前在“课改课”中被老师们广泛采用。那种在人人参与、团结互助、激烈讨论、思维碰撞中，时常能使课堂生成出许多让人惊喜的效果，进而使学生的学习能力得以有效的升华。
但合作学习不能忽视独立思考，实施合作学习是要以学生的独立思考为前提。因为没有独立思考的“蓄势”，就不会有合作学习的“迸发”。目前不少老师片面地理解合作学习，盲目追求所谓小组学习的形式：有的老师在学生还没有对文本充分阅读思考，大部分学生对文本知识的理解还不深入、认识还不到位的情况下就进行合作学习，这样的合作只是为个别优生提供展示的机会，而多数学生只是随声附和、浑水摸鱼；有的老师把合作讨论当作学生活动的唯一形式，不管内容有无讨论的必要，动辄安排小组讨论，一堂课下来，表面热闹非凡，实际收效甚微；也有的老师让学生合作学习，只是流于形式，不给学生足够的时间，看到一两个小组有结果了就匆匆收场，达不到真正的合作学习的目的。以上种种合作学习，学生的思维能力没有得到真正的发展。究其原因，是教师没能正确处理好合作学习与独立思考的关系。
学生只有在进行独立思考有了疑问后，才会产生互相交流、解惑的***。也只有在独立思考的基础之上，在由分歧，争论、辩解到达成共识这一过程中，才能有认识上的提高。否则时时合作、时时探究，就会使学生产生倦怠、依赖心理，丧失独立思考能力。久而久之，学生的学习自主性便会大大削减，不利于其以后的发展。
