星期天，妈妈有事出去，我做完作业，闲着没事干，就帮妈妈打扫起家务。
我先用一块湿毛巾擦窗户，我左擦，右擦，上擦，下擦，可还是擦不干净，我灵机一动，用洗衣粉不就行吗？于是我用洗衣粉的水把毛巾浸湿，又开始擦起来，果然不出我所料，真的比原来干净许多，可是上面我总觉的还有几道白色的条纹，我又用一块干毛巾擦起来，经过一番努力，窗户变得又干净又明亮，终于擦完。
然后，我再用一块含有洗衣粉水的湿毛巾去擦桌子，我原以为桌子上没上面脏东西，可使劲一擦，却有一处很难擦的油渍，我左思右想，就是想不出对付它的方法。突然，我又想气洗洁精，我挤一点，涂在清洁球上，用力擦几下，咦？油渍真得不见，我擦完桌子，又急急忙忙地去拖地。
我把拖把撒上几点洗衣粉，在放到水里浸蚀，我用拖把绕着正方形的样子拖起来，没几分钟就搞定
啊！想想干家务活多累呀，不止这一天，妈妈每天都这样子，我应该帮妈妈分担一下，但我也一定要好好学习，将来做一个有出息的人！

一大早客厅就传来咿咿歪歪的声音，仔细一听，原来是外公的声音，再细细听来，原来，外公在学说英语。
外公今年60多岁了，他头发花白，但仍然十分好学。
上个星期，外公和我说他想学英语，并让我做他的老师，教他说英语，那时我很惊讶，外公都六十好几了，怎么这么突然想学英语呢？我忍不住问外公想学说英语的原因，外公告诉我：为了提高文化水平，参加社区比赛。我一听恍然大悟。
我为外公制定学习英语的计划：要想说英语，那还得从音标、词语开始教起，我原本预计一天教外公十个单词，可在教的过程中，我发现现实和想象不一样，一天学下来，外公只能记住三、四个单词，这样的掌握程度，我有些崩溃。不过，外公是一个做事有明确目标的人，只要认定的事就一要会坚持到底的。
俗话说得好：“一分耕耘一分收获”。在外公的不懈努力之下，外公终于会说简单的句子了，这得归功于外公日复一日的练习。他现在已经能简单地和邻居说几句英语了，但为了赢得市区比赛，当会几句英语句子还远远不够，于是他每天把大部分的`时间都用来埋头苦读。瞧，早饭的时间到了，外公在读英语，午饭的时间到了，外公还是在读英语，晚饭的时间到了，外公仍然在读英语，有时连做梦都在背英语单词，我被他这种坚持的精神感动了。
转眼间，比赛的日子到来了，主持人宣读了比赛的流程并宣布比赛开始，只见外公抬头挺胸，一副胸有成竹的样子，看起来稳券在握。第一环节：猜单词，外公对答如流，好像这道菜对外公而言小意思，可到最后一个环节——选词拼句子，其中有一个句子的词语意思相似选A还是选B或是选C？外公愣住了，而时间在悄然流逝，台上的外公紧张得额头冒汗，坐在台下的我们都为他捏了一把汗。机会是留给有准备的人的。在比赛的最后10秒倒计时中，在紧张的选词中，外公最后还是选出了正确答案，比赛结果是外公得了第一名，他很有荣誉感，我们为外公感到高兴。
一分耕耘一分收获。外公学英语这一路走来，他的执着精神感动了我，我要像外公学习，并发誓以后要用心学习，争取取得优异成绩！
