“我就是个小医生，治病救人才是头等大事儿。”在接受记者采访时，梁益建说。这么多优秀的人，这么大的荣誉砸到自己身上，一开始他有点惶恐。
今年1月中旬，梁益建荣获2016年感动中国十大人物的消息从北京传来。“这个奖该给别人啊。”这是梁益建脑海里浮出来的第一个想法。但后来梁益建也想通了，奖项是一种认可，一种荣誉，但是更是一种责任。“这个奖不仅仅是给自己，更是代表医务工作者去领的一个奖。”
就在昨天，他亲自操刀，为一名患者做了脊柱矫正的手术。手术从早上11点一直到下午4点多，时间达5个小时。这名患者本身是一名神经内科医生，来自河北。正是在网络上得知梁益建的医术精湛，才不远千里来求医。“这是第二次手术，最后再做一次大手术，他的脊柱基本就可以恢复到了理想状态了。”整天围着手术台和患者转，动辄手术要长达10个小时，这个5小时的手术，对于梁益建来说，太正常不过了。
唯一不同的是，做完手术，昨天他提前一个小时下班。家里人正在等着他回家，一起看晚上播出的颁奖典礼。
