这句话是电影的主人公克里斯对自己儿子说的一句话，他在激励自己的儿子，也同样在激励自己。
看着他羡慕的望着一个证卷经纪人的背影，然后站在人群中观望，每个人都是一张灿然微笑的脸，它就想为什么人人都那么开心？除了自己……
看着他为了交房租和送儿子去幼儿园的学费，整天奔命于各家医院，推销他那不太实用且非常昂贵的扫描仪。之前，他以为那会是把他们生活变得富有的扫描仪，可总是得到医生那张无奈的脸。
看着他为了赢得与一个证卷经纪人交流的机会与时间，坐上了同一辆车，口中说一起分摊车费，后来才发现，自己身上并无足够的钱，于是选择……逃车，我们便看到了，一幅一个被汽车拼命追赶男人的画面，还好，他逃掉了，但该死的地铁车门夹掉了他手中的扫描仪。
看着他满怀期待却又有些瑟缩的说出，他想成为一个证卷经纪人，他的妻子偷笑与嘲讽。他本想得到的鼓励与支持，却没能得到。
看着他的妻子再也无法忍受这样贫寒的生活，而离开时，他忧伤无助，而他的要求，只是希望儿子能留在他身边。
看着他落魄到拖欠很久的房租，让房东愤然将他们的东西丢到房外，而房间换了锁，他带着疲惫的心，拖着唯一真爱的儿子，开始流浪，四处寻找住所。父子俩在公共卫生间的角落里依偎着克里斯将门反锁有人想进来方便的时候，他用脚抵着门不敢出声，脸上所露出的悲伤使我不再忍心看下去。
看着他带着儿子去救助站排着长长的队，只是为了有一个晚上的住所和一顿饱饭，天天五点的排队，为了不错过，他只有拼命的赶着工作然后及时地到哪里去等候，便总看见他在不停地跑，然后在不远处有个小小的孩子在跟着，这样的场景使我忍不住掉下了眼泪。
看着他最后的最后竟然选择用卖*来维持他和儿子生存下去……
……
这也许就是所谓的生存。
或许就像《无间道》歌词一样：“生存往往比命运还残酷，只是没有人愿意认输。”是的，没有人愿意认输。你、我、克里斯。
所以，我们才看到了最后那段光明的美好结局，他真的当上了证卷经纪人。
