宽容在于忍耐。当别人触怒了你，不管是有意还是无意，有心还是无心，要想使误会不再升级，不由动口变成动手，你就要去忍。塞万提斯说：忍耐是一帖利于所有痛苦的膏药。只有忍耐才会成就一颗博大的心，才会有宽容一说。
宽容在于调整心态。宽容寄宿在宽广的心胸中，生长在平等的目光中。它厌恶周瑜那狭窄的心胸，以平和的话语，真挚的感情，去制造友谊，创造快乐，解开心结。
宽容在于换位思考。误会，误解，斗气不是一方的责任，在于双方。也许是你一句不经意的话，一个不经意的动作，一个不经意的眼神，伤害了对方的心灵，对方才会表现出生气，发怒。也许你会觉得他心胸狭窄，也许你会觉得他不值得去交朋友。我们何妨换一个角度去思考，拐一个弯想一想？
宽容不是表面上的原谅，是出自内心的真诚；宽容不是别有用心的施舍，是双方获益的美德。学会宽容，宽容者的胸襟才更显得博大，灵魂更趋于纯洁。有了宽容，世界将会变得和谐，和平，和气。

有一则玫瑰花和青蛙的故事：一朵美丽的玫瑰花为自己的美丽骄傲不已，它命令一直蹲在身旁的那只难看的青蛙走开。青蛙照做了，不久青蛙经过红玫瑰的身旁，惊讶地发现它的叶子和花瓣都掉光了，红玫瑰说：“你走后虫子天天都啃我。”青蛙说：“当然了，是我在这里把虫子吃掉，你才成为花园中最美的花。”
是的，在我们周围随时随地都可看见这样的“青蛙”，他们默默地工作、默默地奉献。他们很普通，静静地在你身边，你没感觉到他们的重要。但是一旦社会没有了他们，将会变得怎样？工人用汗水筑起高楼大厦，他们没有嫌累；农民用锄头耕耘田地，他们没有怨言；交警在烈日下智慧交通，他们没有厌倦；护士用双手拯救生命，她们没有放弃；司机用方向盘便利了交通，他们没有烦躁……正是这些可敬可爱的人，创造了社会财富，维护了社会和谐，促进了社会的发展，我们的生活才会变得绚丽多彩，我们离不开他们，他们就是静静守护在红玫瑰旁的“青蛙”。
很多时候，我们也会像红玫瑰一样自命不凡，以为自己无所不能，而忽略了认为无关紧要的人或物。当你途经菜园，看见农民正在施肥浇水，满头大汗，空气中飘来一股刺鼻的'臭味，你会怎样？迎面走来满身汗味的建筑工人，你是礼貌地让路还是嫌恶地别过脸去？碰到扫街的清洁工人，你能对他们的劳动尊重吗？你还会乱丢果皮纸屑吗？其实一个眼神、一下掩鼻、一个扭头就在不经意间表露了你对这些“青蛙”的态度。
我也曾经遇到过类似的“青蛙”。在我们班上，李明是一个“淘气包”。他上课爱走神，有时会迟到，还会欠交作业。他拖了优秀班级的后腿，同学们认为他是一只花圃里的“丑青蛙”。有一次合唱比赛，李明积极报名参加，可我们生怕他会出岔，总想把他支开，让他去做跑腿的工作。可是比赛当天，领唱的同学嗓子哑了，大家都措手不及，在焦急万分中没有人有勇气领唱。这时，是李明站了出来救了急。他临场发挥，一鸣惊人，博得了热烈的掌声。这只“青蛙”真让同学们刮目相看。又有一次，班级里好多椅子松动了，上课时股下传出“吱吱呀呀”的声音，很是烦人。李明看在心里，带来螺钉和螺刀，利用午休的时间修好了松动的椅子。李明把班级放在心里，把同学们放在心里。此后，同学们被感动了，大家包容了李明，把他放进了心里。
