When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They each tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it.
He next unclosed the faggot, and took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into their hands, on which they broke them easily. He then
addressed them in these words: "My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks."

我是一名普普通通的甘肃省定西市安定区东方红小学五年级的一名小学生，在电视上看到您们遭遇地震受难，我的心情非常沉重，我想帮助您们，可是远水解不了近渴，我的心理非常着急。在这危难时刻，我只能向捐款箱里递进去 0元的零花钱，以表达我的一点心意和微薄之力。
00 年 月 日 时 分，四川汶川发生了 .0级特大地震，人们悲痛未过，谁想到 0 0年 月 日 时 9分，青海玉树又发生了 . 级强烈地震，在这两次抗震救灾中发生了许多让我非常感动的事迹：在四川汶川地震救援中，有不顾生命危险舍己救人的小林浩、有勇敢救同学的断臂白乐潇、有给救援叔叔们敬礼的\'小朋友郎铮、有压在废墟下面想喝可乐的男孩薛枭、有不顾自己的生命救别人孩子的母亲等等；在青海玉树地震救援中，有替孩子挡住砖头不幸遇难的母亲白文毛、有穿橘黄色衣服参加救援的消防队叔叔、有穿橄榄色军装的武警和解放军叔叔、有参加救援的当地叔叔、阿姨、农民伯伯和可敬可爱的老师们、有四面八方参加抗震救灾的热心人和志愿者等等。这些感人的事迹，在我脑海里永远记忆着。
在地震中，亲人和小朋友们失去了父母、失去了学校、失去了家园，我们失去了好伙伴、好朋友。在关键时刻，有全国各族人民、社会各界和热心的朋友都纷纷献出一片爱心，他们当中有白发苍苍的老爷爷、有毛口无牙的老奶奶、有被爸爸妈妈抱在怀里的小弟弟和小妹妹、有解放军叔叔、农民伯伯、叔叔和阿姨、有好多好多的全国小朋友伸出了援助之手，他们都有一个共同的名字叫“中国”。一方有难、八方支援、万众一心、众志成城，互相团结、互相关爱、互相帮助是中华儿女的共同心愿，我们有决心、有信心用实际行动为灾区人民做一些力所能及的帮助，让青海玉树的亲人和小朋友们度过难关，重建家园。
