People travel by plane, by train, by ship, by bus. For me, the best way of traveling on a summer vacation is to go on foot.人们去旅游有的乘飞机、有的坐火车、坐船、乘公共汽车。对我来说在暑假，最好的方式是徒步旅行。
My preference depends on the purpose of the travel. On a summer vacation I travel to refresh myself and to see the countryside. I can plan my own schedule. I can choose my own route. I can stop where I like. 我想大家都知道，现在人们都成了“驾车族”，连我家也不例外。但是，就是因为这样，车辆每天都要消耗许多能量，排出很多废气。

据科学家叔叔统计，北京现在相当于一座“废气城”，废气犹如一个污浊的大平底锅，笼罩着原先令人向往的北京！北京众多高耸的建筑物，使得空气流动受阻，风速减小，涡流增加，城市向空气中排放的污染物不容易扩散；再加上北京三面环山的簸箕型地理特点，容易在北京市上空形成逆温，即地面气温比上空低好多！这样就破坏了空气上下对流，使得地面含有污染物质的空气不能及时与上空空气交换，进一步加剧了北京市的空气污染，所以，当风力较小的时候，北京市上空就像罩上了一个污浊的大平底锅！
这一危险的情况已经给人们敲响了一个极其大的警钟，不要再开车了，不要再排放废气了，不要再使亲切和蔼的地球爷爷再受到他不应该受到的伤害了……
在这里，我默默地祝福我们亲切和蔼的地球爷爷——虚弱的身体一天一天地好起来。
