作用：贯穿全文，结合文中的人物、事，使文章条理清晰。

the summer vacation had come round again. i was happy that i could forget about school at least for a while. lest i fool around all through this summer vacation, i made a plan as to how to spend it. first, i thought i should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that i could have a better understanding of them.
then i thought i should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. it stood to reason that with such a good plan i should make the best of my vacation time. i did, because i lived up to what i had planned.

最常见的在前半部分文段，是插叙，答题格式是：

如果该段是最后一段，则是补叙，答题格式是：
（1）补充交代某某情节（要根据文意概括）；
（2）照应上文，解开悬念，让故事真相大白
（3）收到意料之外情理之中的艺术效果。
如果在开头第一段，多为倒叙，答题格式是：设置悬念，吸引读者阅读兴趣。
记叙顺序常用三种：
（1）顺叙；
（2）倒叙（在开头）
（3）插叙。

对文章内容的推理和想象的考查主要有两个方面：
一是揣摩人物的思想活动，想象人物的动作、语言等；
二是对文章的情节或结局展开合理的推测。
解答此类题一定要结合全文的内容来进行。对人物思想活动、语言、动作的揣摩要紧扣人物性格特点，符合情节的发展、适合语境。对文章结局的推理是开放的，答案是多元的，关键是正确表述。
