啄木鸟———森林医生，是常见的留鸟，在我国分布较广的种类有绿啄木鸟和斑啄木鸟。它们专门觅食天牛、吉丁虫、透翅娥、蠢虫等害虫，每天能吃掉1500条左右。由于啄木鸟食量大和活动范围广，在13.3公顷的森林中，若有一对啄木鸟栖息，一个冬天就可啄食吉丁虫90%以上，啄食肩星天牛80%以上，所以，人们称啄木鸟是“森林医生”。
啄木鸟约有180到200种，它们以在树皮中探寻昆虫和在枯木中凿洞为巢而著称。多数啄木鸟为留鸟，少数种类有迁徙的习性。大多数啄木鸟终生都在树林中度过，在树干上螺旋式地攀缘搜寻昆虫；只有少数在地上觅食的种类能像雀形目鸟类一样栖息在横枝上。多数啄木鸟以昆虫为食，但有些种类食果实。
吸汁啄木鸟一般在一定季节内吸食某些树的汁液。春天，占据各自领域的雄啄木鸟大声鸣叫，并常常啄击空洞的树干，偶尔还敲击金属，从而增加声响，但在其他季节啄木鸟通常无声。啄木鸟多无社群性，往往独栖或成双活动。不同种的啄木鸟形体大小差别很大，从十几厘米到四十多厘米不等。如绒啄木鸟长约15厘米，北美黑啄木鸟长约47厘米。啄木鸟能够在树干和树枝间以惊人的速度敏捷地跳跃。
它们能够牢牢地站立在垂直的树干上，这与它们足的结构有关。啄木鸟的足上有两个足趾朝前，一个朝向一侧，一个朝后，趾尖有锋利的爪子。啄木鸟的尾部羽毛坚硬，可以支在树干上，为身体提供额外的支撑。它们通常用喙飞快地在树干上敲击，以寻找隐藏在树皮内的昆虫，确定之后，它们坚硬的喙能够飞速在树皮上啄出一个深深的小洞并闪电般伸出长长的舌头捕捉到昆虫。

兔子是常见的饲养小动物。它的祖先是分布于欧洲、非洲等地的野生穴兔，现在世界各地均有饲养，有很多品种，比较优秀的有比利时兔、细毛兔、安哥拉兔等。
兔子的体毛为白色、褐色等。我更喜欢白色的，因为它看上去很纯洁，没有丝毫杂念。它的耳朵很长，能够灵活地向声源转动，听觉灵敏，而且由于布满毛细血管，竖立时可以散热，紧贴在脊背上时则可以保温。它的眼睛也很大，位于头的两侧，有较大范围的视野，但眼睛间的距离太大，要靠左右移动面部才能看清物体。鼻孔的鼻翼能随呼吸节律开合，嗅觉也很灵敏。嘴的上唇正中裂开成两片，故有“崩嘴”或“豁嘴”之称。两个嘴角向左右生长着辐射状有触觉功能的触须。上颌具有两对前后重迭的门齿，没有犬齿。它的颈短但转动自如，躯干伸屈灵活。四肢强劲，腿肌发达而有力，前腿较短，后腿较长，肌肉、筋腱发达强大，脚下的毛多而蓬松，适于跳跃、奔跑迅速，疾跑时矫健神速，像离弦的箭。在奔跑时还能突然止步，急转弯或跑回头路以摆脱追击。它的尾短，仅有5厘米左右，略呈圆形，故有“兔子的尾巴长不了”的说法。
兔的循环系统发达，脉搏、呼吸较快，新陈代谢旺盛；消化系统中，有发达的盲肠和大肠。
兔子是由野兔经长期驯化而来的，虽然被人喂养的历史亦已长久，但尚承袭着其祖先的不少习性。它们胆子很小，性情温和。善于挖掘洞穴。以草本植物及树木的嫩枝、嫩叶等为食。3至5个月发情时变得异常活跃，通常每胎产4到12仔。6至8个月达到性成熟。寿命为10年。
迄今，兔子仍保留其祖先白天潜伏洞中，夜间四处活动觅食的习性。故家免在白天除喂食时间外，表观安静、闭目睡眠，而一到了晚上，则十分活跃，采食频繁。兔子在晚上所吃的草料和水，约占总量的75%。所以，在喂养日程中，晚上要给足草料和水，日间尽量保持环境安静。
兔子胆小怕惊而善跑，当有突然响动就会马上戒备或迅速逃跑。对突然的喧闹或看到陌生人、狗、猫、蛇、鼠等出现，都会惊慌不已，会发出响亮的嘭嘭的跺脚声或奔跑和撞笼，以求潜逃躲避敌害。所以兔舍要保持安静，避免生人或其敌害动物的进入。
打洞穴居是兔子沿袭其祖先的本能之作。其“居室”是个一穴多洞口的，故有“狡兔有三穴”。在野生条件下，打洞穴居，具有防避敌害，保护自身，繁衍后代等重要意义。可爱的小兔子我爱你！！
