(二二者都根据对象的特点选择运动形式体育教学和运动训练都需要按照学生和运动员的年龄、性别、体质、运动水平等来选择运动项目。如在小学生体育教学中，体育教师应以增强小学生的身体健康为目的，根据小学生的身心特点，选择能够适应其身体负荷的运动项目，并进行合理的搭配、排列与组合，这样才能促使教学过程更加科学化、高效化。而在小学生运动员的运动训练中，教练员同样要根据运动员的身心特点，选择能适应期发展的训练项目，并需要根据其运动状况，制定多年运动训练计划，阶段性的提高运动员的运动水平，延长期运动寿命。从这一层面来说，体育教学和运动训练都是要以对象的具体情况为切入点进行教学或训练的。
