印度北方的'大森林中，生活着成群的红狼。红狼，又称豺，有多种别称。红狼的幼崽，刚刚断乳，就在成年狼的嘴边拱来拱去，向它们索要食物吃，成年狼就会吐出些吃进胃里的食物給幼崽。再大些，反刍出来的东西不够了，它们就围着成年狼一边转着，一边发出唧唧地叫声，表示它们饿了，哄着成年狼去扑食。这时，头狼就带领大家去围猎。留下一头处在叔叔地位的成年狼，看护着子侄们。
狼群把一头幼鹿和斑鹿群隔开，并把它赶进水塘。头狼跳下水，迅速向幼鹿游去。咬住后，再把它拖向岸边，由其它红狼把小鹿拖上岸来。头狼没有优先享受猎获品，而是躲到一边休息去了，其他狼也没有动一下小鹿。
这时，我们看到了感人的一幕。
一只狼发出呼唤，通知饿着肚子的孩子们快来进食。孩子们跑过来，扑向了猎物。由于狼崽们牙齿还不锋利，撕不开兽皮，就有成年狼上前，负责吧兽皮撕开，裸露出鲜红的肌肉来。到此时，它便完成了任务，不吃一口地走开了。边走边舔着嘴边的鲜血。
狼崽们吃饱了，跑到一边玩去了。成年狼才走过来进食，这时，还有一只狼担任站岗放哨的任务，以防备孟加拉虎的侵袭。
野兽也有温情的一面。
人在某些场合，又会暴露出不泯的野性!
