红袋鼠和小公鸡火帽子来到丛林中，跳跳蛙匆匆忙忙跳过来，不高兴地说：“好朋友们去野营，少了青蛙怎么行?”
火帽子歪着脑袋又斜起眼睛，故意气跳跳蛙：“喔喔喔，听我说，丛林里面危险多。有大狼，有毒蛇，还有陷阱把你捉!”
看到两个小伙伴要吵起来了，红袋鼠从袋子里拿出三根棒棒糖，一人一根。三个朋友嘴里含着糖，把糖纸穿在松树枝上，走进了丛林。
草很深，林很密，森林的小路细又细，像很少有人走过的样子。不时有一两声怪鸟的叫声，还有翅膀“扑棱棱”的扇动声。路旁的草被风吹得东倒西歪。跳跳蛙害怕了，一下跳进红袋鼠的袋子里，再也不吭声了。
火帽子胆子大，一眼瞅见路旁草丛里藏着一只大蚂蚱，就伸出脖子去叼他。
大蚂蚱一蹦好远，根本没把火帽子放在眼里。火帽子火了，钻进草丛里去追。
一来二去，三个小伙伴突然发现自己在一块草坪上，四周全是树，刚才走过的路消失得无影无踪。
火帽子在草坪上转了两圈，觉得好像周围全是路，又好像全不是路。跳跳蛙也探出脑袋东张西望。
天很蓝，云很白，风很轻，就是小路不出声……
红袋鼠拍拍脑袋想一想，说：“别急别慌，仔细找找小脚印，踩倒的野草会帮忙。”
三个小伙伴定下神来，仔细地察看野草。小公鸡终于发现了自己的脚印，一个脚印又一个脚印，哈，最后居然还捉到了大蚂蚱!
走出草坪，走上小路，天色渐渐暗下来了。这时，红袋鼠一指前面，哈!出发前丢下的花糖纸还在松树枝上一闪一闪的，像是在招手。找到了花糖纸，走出了密丛林，跳跳蛙好高兴，马上唱起一支“回家歌”：呱呱呱，想回家，想念爸爸和妈妈。爸爸和妈妈，也想跳跳蛙，呱!
火帽子不好意思地说：“喔喔喔，全怪我，林中迷了路，心里不快活。”
红袋鼠冲大伙儿一笑：“不怕迷路，就怕心急。路在我们脚下，一切全靠自己，沉着和仔细，带领我们回家去。”
红袋鼠给宝宝的话：
刚才好险啊，我们差点找不到回家的路了。正在看画报的小朋友也要注意，千万不要迷路哟。
第一，不要像我们那样，随便到陌生复杂的地方去，否则在那种地方会很容易迷路。
第二，如果迷路了，不要惊慌，要像我们一样，仔细寻找路标。在野外要找脚印，找被踩倒、碰倒的花草或在路上丢掉的东西等等;在城里，要记住标志性的建筑，如大楼、雕塑和立交桥等等。还要牢记家里的电话、爸爸妈妈的名字，懂得在必要的时候向警察叔叔求助。
