泉州西湖公园位于清源山的山脚下，与中国闽台缘博物馆为邻。西湖公园的边缘都围着围栏，只在正东、正西、正南、正北这四个方向敞开四个大门。
一走进正门（西门）就看到一个很大的广场，广场边上种着十几棵形态各异的榕树。在门口旁边有一块石碑，碑上有字。出于好奇，我走过去看了看。“妈呀！”这不看还好，一看就把我给吓了一跳，原来碑上刻的是有关于西湖公园的一些数据，西湖的储水量达二百零八万立方米；绿地面积达十六万平方米；而为了建这样的一个防洪、休闲的公园政府竟然投资了一点三亿人民币。
过了广场，沿着右边的小路一直往前走去 ，一路上到处是奇花异草，令人眼缭乱。走了一会儿就看到了一片茂盛的榕树林，那旺盛而浓烈的绿感染了我，让我不由自主地加快了脚步。很快，我就来到了这片榕树林下，可是出现在我眼前的景物让我目瞪口呆。原来那片所谓的.榕树林，并不是由很多的树木组成的，而是独木成林。这还不算稀奇，真正稀奇的是：这根，榕树的根盘在一起，盘成了一条正欲腾飞的巨龙的形状。而树旁边有一块巨石，石上刻着“卧龙”二字。哦！原来它叫做“卧龙”。
过了“卧龙”后，接着往下走不远，就来到了一座石桥前。桥的两头各有两尺形态各异的石狮子，分立在两侧，相对的两只狮子的形状大小一模一样。其中最威武的要数正中的一对雄狮子了。这对狮子右前脚下各踩着一个球，仰天长啸好不威风。
过了石桥沿着石头彻成的小路再往前走不远就到了刺铜阁。刺铜阁位于湖中的小岛上，是整个公园的中心，它与公园大门相应的方向有4 个 通往刺铜阁的台阶，每个台阶两边都有两只石白象威风凛凛地守护着刺铜阁。不过令人不解的是刺铜阁不知什么原因没有开放。
接着往前走，走半个小时左右就回到了广场，这次西湖之行就结束了。此次西湖之行不仅使我大开眼界，还使我更加深入了解了泉州这一现代化城市中的一个美丽的地方——西湖公园。啊！美丽的西湖公园，你的一景一物让我陶醉。
