乌鸦口渴得要命，飞到一只大水罐旁，水罐里没有很多水，他想尽了办法，仍喝不到。
于是，他就使出全身力气去推，想把罐推倒，倒出水来，而大水罐却推也推不动。这时，乌鸦想起了他曾经使用的办法，用口叼着石子投到水罐里，随着石子的增多，罐里的水也就逐渐地升高了。最后，乌鸦高兴地喝到了水，解了口渴。
这故事说明，智慧往往胜过力气。

一个读书人带着他的几名弟子外出，正好遇到天下雨，路滑，很不好走。
他们看到一辆饭车，正停在高高的山路上歇息着。读书人用手指着那辆饭车对弟子们说：“你们看，那辆饭车要不了多会儿肯定会翻覆。”弟子们不解地看着那辆车说：“为什么呢?”读书人说：“你们看就是了。”说着，他们继续行路。
他们刚走了十几步远，忽听到一片喧闹声从山路那边传来，他们惊奇地回头看时，那辆饭车果然已经翻了。几个弟子觉得老师果然料事如神。他们问：“先生，您何以知道那车会翻的呢?”
读书人说：“我是从这件事的一种趋势中判断出来的。”
几个弟子急切地说：“请先生讲给我们听，长长我们的见识。”
读书人说：“你们看，天下着雨，道路泥泞难行，唯独那高高的山路没有烂泥浆，比较好通行。可是那条山路却又高又窄，此时天雨，众人驾着车只好都奔向那里。而那辆饭车又有些自不量力，上了那条山路却又走不动，还不顾别人着急，顽固地占踞在高高的位置上，阻碍着众人的车进去，它怎么能不翻覆呢?”
弟子们点头称是，佩服老师的判断正确。
读书人接着又语重心长地说：“世上还有比饭车翻覆更大的祸患，你们都记住饭车的危险作为教训吧!”
有些身居显要地位的人，若不称职，反而成为妨碍别人进步的绊脚石，那将是危险的。
