瞧，现在的黄冈，商场一家一家的：“七一”商场天天闹哄哄的'，服务员忙得不一乐乎。“中商”百货里，又有了一些新品种。黄州商场里的商品琳琅满目，让你的眼睛看得眼花缭乱。新开张的“武商黄州量畈店”里的东西就更不用说了，购买商品的顾客络绎不绝。
春节期间，公共汽车全换了样，一百辆豪华大巴闪亮登场。它们外观美丽，穿的衣服完全相同，就像穿着工作服。并且都是无人售票。新公交车成了黄冈一道亮丽的风景线。
街道也变得宽阔，整洁了。各种车辆在街道上鱼贯而过，人群都熙熙攘攘，各行其道，显得秩序井然。
古城黄冈还有一座著名的公园——“赤壁公园”，现在是焕然一新。过节日时，还会放烟火，演节目，可热闹了。
更为雄伟壮观的是鄂黄大桥，一桥飞架南北，它把黄冈与鄂州连为一体，为黄冈打开了一条通向外界的方便之门。还有那漂亮的大桥公园，它吸引了来自各地的游客。
