我的家乡——大同，是我国著名的历史文化名城，它被誉为“塞外明珠”，大同有许多名胜古迹：有世界文化遗产——云冈石窟，有栩栩如生的九龙壁，有巧夺天工的悬空寺，有五岳之一的恒山。
自从改革开放以来，大同由一座沧桑名城变为一座勃勃生机的现代化城市，衣食住行发生了翻天覆地的\'变化，尤其是道路的变化，给这座城市增添了现代化气息。昔日的大同古街区道路非常狭窄，到处都是坑坑洼洼的。一到刮风天，到处尘土飞扬，黄沙满天，把过路的人们弄得灰头土脸。雨天的时候，街道变得泥泞不堪，每隔几米总会有一个深浅不一的水坑，有的水坑都能把汽车轮子淹过一半，行人走时总要挽起裤腿，脱掉鞋子，走起来非常艰难。每当这时，人们都是愁眉苦脸，心里很懊恼。路的两边都是矮小的平房，夹杂着几座不起眼的店铺。
一到晚上，路灯因为坏了，行人走起来非常不便。而现在的道路已是旧貌换新颜，发生了日新月异的变化。昔日的迎宾东西路已不复存在，展现在眼前的是一条宽阔、平坦的迎宾路，同时可容下几辆车通过，两边铺满了彩砖。两边的绿化带形状不一：有长方形的，有正方形的，有椭圆形的。绿化带里种着四季常青的松树、高大挺拔的杨树、粗壮的泡桐等各类名贵树木。当夏天来临之时，这些树枝叶繁茂、苍翠欲滴、绿树成荫、郁郁葱葱，给人以凉爽的感觉。
酷夏来临之时，人们还可以蹲在绿阴下乘凉。周围的草坪既美化了城市的道路，又给这座城市增添了生机。那几个圆形花坛里的花品种齐全：有黄澄澄的菊花，有红艳艳的鸡冠花，有黄灿灿的迎春花它们争奇斗艳，竞相开放，每一种花都散发出了淡淡的清香，不仅吸引来了蜜蜂与蝴蝶，而且令人心旷神怡，美化了我们的城市。路的两边竖起了一根根造型奇特而又美观的路灯，照亮了行人前进的道路。道路两旁建起了古色古香的公交候车厅。街上的行人与汽车川流不息，一派车水马龙的景色，真是热闹非凡！星期天爸爸带我去上街，坐在车上看着窗外的景色，昔日拥堵不堪的御河西路，现在已变成畅通无阻的御河北路。在路的北面，一片连绵不绝的古城墙巍然屹立，气势磅礴，给人一种气吞山河的感觉。
马路的南侧，四座风格迥异的跨河大桥正在修建。看到这些我感慨万分：这几年大同的变化实在太大了，它已由沧桑古城变成了一座现代化的大城市，不得不令人惊叹呀！我闭上眼睛，脑海中憧憬着将来的大同：那是的大同已经成为国际大都市，各国友人慕名而来，身为一名大同人是多么地自豪！
我爱我的家乡，我相信这颗“塞外明珠”将会变得更加璀璨。
