The lion loved the girl very much, so he trimmed his claws and took out his big teeth. When he came to the parents again, they simply laughed in his face, and beat him out of their house.

这句话的意思是：“学习，如果努力的话，成绩就会进步，要是你不加强学习，不努力，便会有同学超过你，你的名次便会落后。的确，在学习里，有时考得很好，也许是太骄傲了，下一次的成绩就会不如上一次，这个学期语文考试便是一个例子。
在语文考第一单元时，我整个晚上都在复习，把该背的背了，把该默的默了，复习了很晚才睡。第二天考试，试卷上的题目都好似粉简单，我很顺利地把试卷上的题目做完。功夫不负有心人，我考了94分，全班第六名。很快，第二单元要考试了，这次我没有像第一单元那么地努力，我觉得应该不会很难，所以我只看了一会儿书就睡觉了。第二天考试时，前面的题目还做得挺顺利的，可是到了后面，我就卡住了，我慌了，绞尽脑汁也没想出来。这时的我，犹如是热锅上的蚂蚁，十分后悔昨天晚上怎么没有认真复习，可是现在后悔已经晚了。星期一，老师发试卷，当念名次时久久都没听见我的名字。“25名，XX。”这时，我大跌眼睛，竟然从第6名落到25名，这两个数字相距多大啊!我的试卷不堪设想，到处都是红叉，就连许多第一单元考得不理想的同学也超过我。这时，我才是真正地领悟道这句名言的真正含义。
“学如逆水行舟，不进则退。”这句话在童话故事里也常出现过。记得小时候我听过这样的一个故事：兔子王国里举行了赛跑，比赛开始，兔子小百白就遥遥领先，比赛结果，冠军便是小白。很快第二届的赛跑又开始了，可是这次兔子小白并没有像上一届快，开始就落到后面，而上届的季军小黑却似乎比上一届快了很多，得了冠军。原来，小白在得了冠军后很少去练习，身体变得十分迟钝了，而小黑每天都练习，速度一天比一天快。因此，才会得了这一届的冠军。
在生活中，在学习中，如果你不是进步就退步。我将把这句名言作为我的座右铭。同时，我也把这两个例子记住，永远激励着自己不断前进。
