湘湖的水真美啊！早晨水面上非常安静，有时吹来一阵微风，水面上就荡起了层层波纹；中午在太阳光的照射下，水面上波光粼粼，非常美丽；下午的水面就更漂亮了，水里一半是黄的.，一半是蓝的，远远看去，就像一幅美丽的油画。
湘湖的桥大小不同，姿态各异。从造型上看有单孔桥、三孔桥、五孔桥以及多孔桥。而在湘湖最有名的是跨湖桥。它的桥长约 13.3米 ，桥高约 4米 ，桥宽约 6.7米 ，两边有长长的湖堤，横跨在湘湖上，非常壮观。在湘湖还有姿态各异的十二生肖桥，例如宝猪桥、玉兔桥、牵牛桥、神猴桥等等。
湘湖的亭也非常多，有顺心亭、租道亭、敦颐亭、凤荷亭……让我印象最深的是租道亭，它在湘湖的边上，中间立着一块石碑，石碑上写着“临水祖道”四个大字。爸爸告诉我这个亭子是为了纪念越王勾践的，是湘湖的一处人文景观。
最有趣的湘浦观鱼。每次我去湘湖玩总会去那里买上几包鱼食喂鱼，看到成群结队的鱼儿争先恐后地游过来抢鱼食，有时大的鱼为了抢到鱼食还会一下子跃出水面一口吞掉鱼食，看到这个情景，我总会开心地哈哈大笑！
美丽的湘湖真是个好地方，有山，有水，有花，有草，还有美丽的亭子和大小不同的桥。如果你有空去湘湖玩一玩，相信你也会像我一样爱上湘湖的。

很多同学得知我被迫报了长跑之后，都过来安慰我，还有一些“长跑健将”很热情地向我传授长跑的秘诀，可我都心情黯淡，“又不是你们参加比赛，你们根本体会不到我的痛苦”，我小声嘀咕道。
比赛那天，在经过简单的热身之后，体育老师便把我们这几个参加比赛的女生集合到了一起。“比赛不能慌，要冷静一些。”看着“对手”们正专心致志的听讲，我更感觉希望渺茫了：昔日的体育课，我没有好好地去训练，只是一味的在想方设法去偷懒，800米长跑，我没跑进及格线是家常便饭……现在，我该怎么办？
不幸的是，我被安排在了一号道——那是离我们班最近的一条道，同学们可以全程目睹我“出丑”，我不想跑的***更强烈了。“预就位，预备……”在发令员发出信号后，所有参赛选手都摆好了准备动作，只有我呆呆地站在那里。“砰！”发令员一声令下，所有人都像离弦的箭似的飞了出去，我也下意识的尾追其后。
第一圈，我使出了浑身力气，翻越了前面几座“大山”也要领先，毫不费力的跑完了这一圈。
第二圈，就是决定最后胜负的最关键的一圈，可是，我的体能不给力，我没能坚持跑在第一位，看着之前被我超越的那些同学都跑在了我的.前面，而我却早已没有力气追上她们——很明显我的身体已经到了极限。随着时间一分一秒的过去，我又很快的变成了最后那一个，“什么是个好，我何时才能超越他们？”我心想。我咬紧牙关，卖力地冲向前去，突然，我听到了一阵阵加油打气的声音，“加油！加油！”我用余光看向了赛道旁，只见一群人围在那里，手中举着我们班的班牌，喊着我的名字，为我加油呢！我顿时感觉身轻如燕，极限期似乎早已过去，我拼尽全力冲向了终点。很遗憾的是，我只拿了第五名。
虽然没有拿到奖牌，可是，我明白了：人生像一场赛跑，你要么领先，要么落后，你的对手并不是别人，而是你昨天自己，只有不断超越才能有所进步，走向明天的辉煌。
我坚信，好的定义只有不断超越，不断进取，才可以到达成功的彼岸！

It has been two weeks since I last wrote to you. I am so sorry that I don‘t write you very often.
However, I have been busy with my preparation
for the final exams. As you know, I‘m coming home on Jan.14th. But before that, I have to take the final exams for all six classes I‘m taking this semester. Recently I have been in and out of the library a lot to do some research on the term paper for one of the classes. Most professors gave out the review problems already so that the students can study for the final. I think I‘m doing okay studying for the final.
Besides reviewing materials, I‘m also planning to host the New Year party of my department. You know there are so many talented people in my Communications major, but they picked me to host the party! Great, isn‘t it?
