《中国走过60年》这本书写了许多关于新中国对世界和历史的贡献的事情。
书中介绍了1949年10月1日下午3时，***在天安门城楼向全世界庄严宣告：中华人民共和国中央人民政府成立了！中国人民从此站起来了！中华人民共和国的成立，是中国历史上开天辟地的大事变，它标志着中国结束了半殖民地半封建的历史，从此走上了独立、自由、民主的发展道路。
1949年到1979年，为中国社会主义革命和社会主义建设计划经济时期，党和人民开始了中国社会主义道路的新探索。当时，中国人口占世界人口的1/4，日中国经济总量却排在世界第100位之后，穷得可怜。低文化、低技术含量的劳动生产力，落后的经济社会基矗连最简单的火柴、钉子、自行车等工业品也产不出来。当领导任命在这一穷二白的国土上，靠着坚定的\'理想信念，自生更生，艰苦创业，艰苦奋斗30年，建立起了一个社会主义制度和一套比较完整的国民经济体系。
1979年到2009年，这一时期，因为社会主义建设从计划经济到市场经济的转变时期，中国共产党和中国人民进行了中国特色社会主义道路的新探索。经过30年集中精力发展生产力，中国的财政税收将达到7万多亿元人民币，国民生产总值达到5万亿美元，经济总量将跃居到世界第二位。国家将走上科学发展的新阶段。
新中国的快速发展，人民生活上的大幅提高，体现了我们党和国家的领导正确。
