打了胜仗的乌龟回到家里，有许多的小动物急着巴结乌龟，就连猴子和老虎也赶来伺候乌龟。因为它们都跑不过兔子，可如今乌龟跑赢了兔子。从此乌龟就过着大吃大喝、让另的动物服侍的日子。
可另一边的`兔子，却在日夜不停地锻炼，就是为了弥补之前犯下的过错。
两年后，兔子再次向乌龟发起了赛跑挑战，得意望形的乌龟却给兔子回了一封信：上次比赛我赢了，还想再和我比一次，难道你还想自取其辱吗?
兔子收到了这封信，打开一看，也给乌龟回了一封挑战书。
乌龟和兔子赛跑的日子到了，乌龟挺着个大肚子走上台来，乌壳都要被它顶坏了，而兔子轻巧地走上台来。
比赛开始了。兔子以飞快的速度冲向终点，就像一把离弦的箭。而起点的乌龟，因为自己太重，所以才艰难地迈出了第一步。没等乌龟走出起点，兔子就已以到达终点，所以这次比赛的冠军属于兔子。因为这次比赛乌龟输了，所以动物们再也不伺候它了。
这个故事告诉我们，任何时候都不能骄傲。
