贺知章出生了，他的爸爸妈妈可高兴了，慢慢的贺知章长大了，他对父母说:“我要出去试试看自己所学的知识有没有用，看看能不能出人头地。”于是，贺知章就告别父母来到了京城。他通过了一次次的考试，终于有一天他得到了皇上的接见。皇上对他的才华很是喜欢，就把贺知章留在了京城做一个官。

有一天，他想回家了，就骑着白马走过了弯弯曲曲的小路，他看见路旁有一条小河，他下马来喝水，接着继续赶路。他终于回到了家乡，他看见几个小孩正在玩游戏，一个小孩子看到贺知章，就跑上前问:“老爷爷，你是哪里人呀?到我家坐坐吧!”贺知章笑着说:“我就是在这里出生的呀，我也曾经住在这里的，我想问你下，你爷爷叫什么呀?”那小孩子说:“我爷爷汪美清。”贺知章说:“哦，我认识你爷爷，你们小时候还经常一起学习的。你能带我去见见你爷爷吗?”小孩子说:“好啊，好呀，我爷爷就在家里，我现在就带你去找我爷爷。”来到了小孩子的家，贺知章小孩子的爷爷就坐下来聊了起来，结果一聊就聊到很晚，天马上就要黑了，贺知章这才起身告辞。
