我爸今年42岁，他个头不高，皮肤黝黑。虽说才40开头，两鬓却已夹杂了几根银丝。我爸说他的烟龄已经有20年，因此少年宫下参差不齐的牙齿过早微微发黑。
一天，我缠着我爸讲他以前的事。他给我说他高中毕业的时候，成绩很好，因为家里穷，兄弟姐妹多，就没有再去复习而是出门打工了。
在新疆打工的时候很辛苦，那时新疆在下雪，他和同伴在打工的路上，因为不好行走就只好把身上背的东西扔掉了。走了几天，因为天气冷再加上肚子饿，差一点就晕倒。幸好被山上的工人给救了，给我把它们吃东西和取暖，这才捡回来一条命。爸还给我说要珍惜现在的一切，我们现在和他们以前相比真是太幸福了，以前想读书也读不上，让我应该好好学习。
我随时记得爸爸给我说过这样一句话：“任玲，有文化、有知识，才好立足，才会不被别人瞧不起，没文化、没知识处处碰壁。”所以要我好好学习。他还说当今社会的大学生还基本能够适应现在的血药，但是到了我们以后大学生连饭碗都找不到，对人才的要求就会更高，所以更加严厉的要求我，让我加倍努力，让我一刻也不放松。
