“你瞧，他们在这里啦。”桑娜拉开了帐子。
多了两个孩子以后，渔夫一家的生活更不好过了。以前还勉强能吃饱，现在都吃不饱了。渔夫每天天不亮就出去打渔，深夜才回来。桑娜也更勤快的收拾家里，有时间做些针线活拿到集市上去卖些钱。他们虽然非常努力的工作，钱却不见多。
收租的日子马上就到了，渔夫一家非常着急。
一天，收租的人带着几个部下闯进屋里来。渔夫恳求缓几天，可收租人仍不依不饶，把渔夫仅有的钱也抢走了，还恶狠狠的说：“五天后，若再交不了租，就让你们好看!”
桑娜受到了惊吓，得了病，不久就死了。渔夫悲愤的对孩子们说“走，我们在这儿根本活不下去!我们驾船离开这个人不人鬼不鬼的地方!“
