summer can be very hot in southern taiwan where the temperature usually goes up to 32"c or more. because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. also because of this i stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and only occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to keep my body less sticky.
actually i like swimming and think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. in the summer vacation that has just ended i went swimming many times with my classmates and we all had a good time. this summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. as a second-year senior student i had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were only a year away. in other words, i must find time to study, too.
so i divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.

the summer vacation had come round again. i was happy that i could forget about school at least for a while. lest i fool around all through this summer vacation, i made a plan as to how to spend it. first, i thought i should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that i could have a better understanding of them.
then i thought i should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. it stood to reason that with such a good plan i should make the best of my vacation time. i did, because i lived up to what i had planned.

这是我第一次陪着同学熬夜，这也是我人生中的第一次感受熬夜的清晨。
开学的第一天，我被分配到了C520寝室。原本以为宿舍生活枯燥乏味的我，却在这一天彻底改变了想法。
一个寝室住八个人，说宽也不宽，说挤也不挤。夜晚，准备睡觉了，宿管阿姨关掉了走廊和所有寝室的照明灯，顿时，四周变得黑漆漆的一片，就犹如掉进了煤堆一般。我本以为即将在这伸手不见五指的黑暗中度过这个宁静的夜晚，但随着一缕刺眼的手电筒光，这份宁静被打破了。
“五号床，快把门关紧！”二号床的舍友朝五号床的舍友小声喊道。
“没问题。”五号床回应，很快便下床跑去关门了。
我呆呆地望着手持手电筒的二号舍友，心里疑惑着：“咦，有什么事吗？为什么要开手电筒？为什么要关紧寝室门？”种种疑问浮现在脑海，几秒后才反应过来。
对哦，今天中午好像听他们说晚上要熬夜，难道……他们真的要这么做吗？我默默地想。不一会儿，三号、四号、六号、七号、八号都起来了，他们陆陆续续下了床，坐到了冰凉的大理石地板上。
我也下意识地下了床，和他们七个坐在一起。
四号床首先发话：“同志们，这是我们C520第一次集结，为了表示庆祝，我们今天晚上不睡觉了！”
“好！”其他六个人喊了起来，我也附和着弱弱地应了一声。
说罢，除了我以外的七个人便开始聊了起来。夜聊对于我来说那么新奇。
我勉强地钻进了他们所聊的话题中去，同他们一齐聊了起来。
在大家的聊天中我慢慢知道了，二号床姓缪，是一个富家公子，家里开着皮革厂。五号呢，姓章，来自我所住小镇旁边的一个村子，是一个农民的孩子。四号和我来自同一个小镇，只不过，我们两家住得比较远，所以之前没有机会认识。
其他的人，我也草草地认识了。就这样，我们越聊越起劲，越聊越入迷，从家人到小学母校到兴趣爱好……最后，竟到了凌晨2点钟，因为实在太疲倦才各自上床睡觉。
这次的夜聊，给了我一次前所未有的体验，真的非常有趣，非常新奇。不仅让我第一次认识了这些舍友，也给我留下了一生都难以忘怀的记忆。
