忽然，黑猫警长看见树下有很多木头，它计上心来。它用自己随身携带的绳子把木头捆起来当“船”用，它折断竹子当作船桨。黑猫警长把“船”推到河里，它拿竹子使劲地划。小偷看见黑猫警长追了上来，大惊失色，它也朝着岸边使劲地划。船还没到岸边就拿起包袱就跑，它还没站稳，就摔了个大跟头。这时黑猫警长也上了岸，上岸后把小偷逮了个正着，小偷束手就擒，它拿着手铐铐住了小偷，你跟我去警察局，小偷心想：“悔不当初偷东西。”小偷只好乖乖跟着黑猫警长去了警察局，局长表扬了黑猫警长机智神勇。

最后，老鼠还是乖乖地跟着黑猫警长进了监狱。
