岩石的缝隙里掉进一些松树种子,后来成活了八株小松树。土地贫瘠,山风暴虐,八株小松树艰难地生长着。
三年后,一个农夫上山,看到了小松树,想把它们移回去,栽在房前屋后。他只刨了五棵,因为另外三棵太瘦小,怕移回去活不过来,就没有要。
十年后,一个园艺师来到高山上,看到这三棵松树是优质品种,想把它们移到公园里去供人观赏。他移走了两棵,还有一棵因为长在山岩边,人上不去,就放弃了。
剩下的一棵松树看到同伴们都被运走,直怪自己长在偏僻处,不然就不用在这山里承受寂寞和苦难了。又经历了无数个春夏秋冬,那棵松树不再哀叹命运的不公,而是坚守足下的土地,承受着狂风严霜,鼓足劲头生长。
两百年后,一条山路从山下修了上来。上山观光的人络绎不绝,都惊叹那棵松树的高大奇绝——它背山临谷,云遮雾绕,苍虬挺拔,亭亭如盖……
不久,一个很有学问的人为它竖了一块牌子,上书“天下第一松”。
那棵松树错过了两次改变命运的机会,却成了“天下第一松”。可见,比机会更加重要的是坚守足下的`土地。

躲在石缝里的螃蟹遇到了一条泥鱼。
螃蟹挥舞着两只大钳子冲了过去，泥鱼掉头迅速跳进了泥田。螃蟹纵身一跃，跟着跳进了泥田。
泥田里，泥鱼露出一条尾巴，螃蟹立即张开大钳用力钳住，泥鱼借着泥水的力量一甩尾巴，螃蟹的一只大钳子便被生生地掰了下来。螃蟹痛得哇哇大叫，发誓一定要捉住泥鱼。
泥鱼又将自己的尾巴伸了过来，螃蟹毫不犹豫地伸出另一只大钳，再次将泥鱼的尾巴钳住。泥鱼再次借泥水的力量一甩尾巴，螃蟹剩下的那只大钳子也被掰了下来。
泥鱼这才转过头来，张口紧紧地咬住了螃蟹的嘴巴，用力吸了一口，鲜美的蟹肉便流进了泥鱼的肚子里。
在石缝里，泥鱼斗不过螃蟹，但在泥潭里，螃蟹则不是泥鱼的对手。最有用的武器不是螃蟹坚硬的大钳子，也不是泥鱼柔软的尾巴，而是自己熟悉的环境。
