在一个美丽的秋天里，落叶纷纷。
猫的报恩森林深处有一间小木屋，里面住着一位白发苍苍的老爷爷，小木屋显得独一无二，因为孤身一人的老爷爷，经营着森林里唯一的水果铺。和蔼善良让老爷爷的生意不错，森林里的小动物都喜欢光顾他的小店，也喜欢和老爷爷一起晒晒太阳，聊聊天。它们给老爷爷带来的森林里种种有趣的事情，常常把老爷爷逗笑得胡子都飞了起来，生活再也不会像秋天的落叶一样孤零零。
当然，偶尔也有可怜的小猫、小鹿们来讨白食。这个时候，老爷爷总是会慷慨地准备很多丰盛的食物招待它们。它们从来不用担心在老爷爷这里会招白眼、受冷落。渐渐地，老爷爷的小木屋成了森林里的爱心小屋。
在这些讨白食的小动物中，有一只白色的小流浪猫已经来这里“作客”了整整一年了。它和老爷爷相依为命，相处得像父女一样，老爷爷悉心照料着小流浪猫，白天逗它玩，晚上哄它睡，一家人的日子过得比蜜还甜。直到小白猫找到自己的“黑猫王子”，老爷爷才依依不舍地把它嫁了出去。
有道是，天有不测风云。有一天凌晨，天色未开，森林里小生灵们都还沉浸在美好的梦乡中。老爷爷的小木屋突然起火了，火势蔓延得很快，转眼间变成了熊熊大火，哔哔啪啪的`声音传出很远很远，小木屋随时有可能会坍塌下来了。但更可怕的是，老爷爷年纪大了，耳朵重了，竟然一点儿也没觉察到，仍在沉沉酣睡中……眼看一场悲剧就要发生了，就在这千钧一发之际，那只小流浪猫这时不知从哪里窜出来，火光映照出它肥大笨重的肚子——它已经***了。小流浪猫来到小木屋前，焦急地冲着小木屋大声叫唤，但老爷爷依旧毫无知觉，冲天的火焰中，小流浪猫奋不顾身弓起身窜进火海中，来到老爷爷的床前，又叫又拽地唤醒了沉睡中的老爷爷。
一场灾难终于过去了，老爷爷幸运地逃了出来。大火把小木屋烧得干干净净。可是，在冒着缕缕黑烟的废墟中，老爷爷找来找去，不放过任何一个角落，就是怎么也找不到那只小猫……
不久，老爷爷在原先小木屋的旁边，又建起了一座新的木屋，仍旧操起他的老营生，开着水果铺。现在老爷爷照顾生意之余，常怀感恩之心，更精心照顾那些来讨白食的小动物。更多的时候，他常常情不自禁地想起那只小流浪猫。他有时幻想着，小木屋前，会突然响起小流浪猫来讨白食的叫唤声，那该有多好啊！
这一天午后，阳光慵懒地晒着小屋，老爷爷正在屋里打盹儿，半梦半醒中，他依稀听到有小猫的叫声，老爷爷以为在做梦。没想到，小屋前，那只流浪猫竟出现在老爷爷的视线中，它的身后，还跟着两只正相互追逐的可爱的猫咪宝宝。老爷爷一下子睁大眼睛，狠狠地掐了自己一下，哈哈，不是在做梦，他的小恩猫又回来了。
现在，老爷爷与小猫一家幸福地生活在一起。每当望着在阳光下自由嬉戏的猫妈妈和猫宝宝，老爷爷在心里满足地告诉自己：“这真是上帝的礼物！”

这只叫拉米那·格罗比斯的猫，过着清心寡欲的修士生活。它外表温和善良，仿佛是个圣人，有着一身好皮毛，丰满富态，是一个裁决棘手案子的专家。兔子同意请它来裁决，于是与黄鼠狼一同来到了这位裹着一身上等皮毛的法官面前。
“我的孩子，请靠近点，来吧，再靠近点，我年纪大了，耳朵背。”兔子与黄鼠狼一同走上前来，毫无戒备。看到它们已到了自己的掌握之中，这个假法官便突然左右出击，将爪子扑向双方，为调解二者的纠纷，它把这两个诉讼者一同塞进嘴巴里大嚼大咬，最后咽入腹中。
这就像那些小领主们，常常为了彼此的纠纷去请国王来调解一样，得不偿失。
