Nowadays, advertisements can be found everywhere in big cities. They shout at us from the television screen and radio loudspeakers, wave to us from every page of the newspaper, signal to us from the roadside billboards all day and flash messages to us in colored lights all night.
Faced with a flood of advertisement, some people wonder whether it is necessary to have such huge sums spent on advertising. They often cite in illustration of it the attractive, but false and deceptive advertisements to which many consumers fall victim. Why don't we stop advertising and use the money to reduce the price of goods? It sounds like a good idea, but they fail to notice the contribution advertising makes to our society. Because the production of a better product to compete for customers' money is the goal of advertisers, customers are thus given a chance to compare their products and get the best and cheapest one. Besides, as the advertisement can provide people with a lot of immediate and detailed information as to the availability of a certain product, or a service or a job, it makes life much more convenient. And another thing we mustn't forget: the fact that we pay so little for our daily newspapers and TV programs is due entirely to the money spent by advertisers.

“英语就考了106分，做了那么多练习什么用？！你看看人家小叶也不看见做什么课外练习都考了129分！”英语老师用严厉的口吻批评着我，语气有些愤怒、有些失望。
我眼眶差点溢出了委屈的泪水，我也很努力去学习英语。背单词、做练习我也很用心啊。为什么就考不出70分的范围？为什么要有英语这课程？为什么我们要学习？为什么外国不是和我们一样说汉语而是英语？
突然想起了吴克群的《将军令》中的一句歌词：“我知道yoyoyo不是我的\'语言……在你的世界学你说ABCD，在我的土地对不起请说华语……”

你是正极，我是负极，我们一短兵相接就会使战争的导线升温！

“侬有空写这些乱七八糟的东西，不会去多背几个单词，去做会阅读啊！……”一个熟悉又让我有些厌恶的声音像幽灵一样从我身后冒了出来。我几乎可以想象出接下来所谓的“台词”是什么。那些话已经停了不下N遍了，我都可以一字不漏地把那些台词复述出来。我想我的耳膜已经对这些“站着说话不嫌腰疼”的话产生抗体形成自动免疫功能。
我仍然陷在我的浮想中。我独来独往走在云彩之上，身边路过拿着英语书、词组纸的同学，目光茫然。我唤醒他们。
他们却对我说：“要上英语课了，你还不背单词啊！”我一愣。我想哭泣，想逃离，但是我此时此刻却不知道欲去何方……
我深陷在眼瞳中的字母里，昏厥，猛睁眼，天亮了，英语仍在……

小的时候，每当看到电视上的记者采访报导时，我的脑海中就充满了对未来的无限憧憬。我常常独自一人关在书房里，对着镜子，拿起书，卷成筒形，模仿电视上的记者做现场报导。我感到那是我最大的快乐。我时常告诉自己，今后一定要努力，争取当一名记者，而且是个出色的记者。这个理想就这样一直伴随着我度过了快乐的童年。
进入初中后，当听到学校小记者站正在招收新成员时，我毫不犹豫地报名参加了。面对学校的“精英们”，我曾经气馁过，但为了实现我的理想，便又坚强起来。在笔试中，自信满满的我凭自己的实力通过了这一关。第二关是面试，我毫无把握，因为小学上课时，我很少举手，平时又不善与人交谈。记得那天上台演讲时，我的心情是多么的激动，一篇准备得自认为很充分的讲稿，被我讲得支离破碎。果然，我没有被录取。
当听到这一消息时，我犹如被晴天霹雳砸了一下，愣在那里，心中非常乱，好久才回过神来。我呆呆地站在窗前，望着远方，眼泪在眼眶里打转，心想：这是为什么呢?难道我的理想就这样被毁灭了吗?不，不是，是不是因为我的口才不好，语言表达能力差，还是因为我的紧张，我自信心不够坚强……这些都是构成我不能被录取的`原因。像我目前这样的水平，想当上小记者，我自认条件不够。不过，我并不气馁。今后，我会主动加强口语表达训练，上课多举手发言。我相信：只要我不懈努力，明年小记者站招收新会员，我还会报名，到那时，我会让所有的人对我“刮目相看”。我还想当上一名大记者呢! 想到这里，一股舒畅的感觉涌上心头。是的，这次我虽然没有当上小记者，但是，通过竞选，我锻炼了自己，我的理想不会因为这次失败而遭受挫折，相反，我更清楚地认识到自己的不足，我会为实现我的理想而付出实践，我的理想并没有毁灭。

假如一个人没有理想，那他的生活和那荒凉的戈壁，冷冷清清，没有活力，他的生活如一滩死水，平平淡淡，没有新意，他的生活如漫漫的黑夜，昏昏暗暗，没有光亮。像那离群的大雁和那断了线的风筝，，跌跌撞撞，像那没有目如干枯的树干，皱皱巴巴，没有生机。，
