它的身体有两大特点，一是颜色非常鲜艳，二是体型小巧玲珑。先说它的颜色吧：你看它头上的羽毛像橄榄色的头巾，绣满了翠绿色的花纹；背上的羽毛像浅绿色的外衣；腹部的羽毛像赤褐色的衬衫。再说他的`体型吧：眼睛透亮灵活，十分锐利，可以随时发现水面下的小鱼；嘴巴又尖又长，张开时像个夹子，可以把小鱼叼得紧紧的。
翠鸟捉鱼的时候，先是找一找感觉：一边清脆地鸣叫，一边贴着水面疾飞，确定水面下是不是有小鱼。接着轻快地落在苇秆上，仔细观察：一动不动地注视着泛着微波的水面，等待游到水面上来的小鱼。接下来翠鸟就要出击了：尽管小鱼那么机灵——只悄悄地把头露出水面，吹了个小泡泡，它就蹬开苇秆，像箭一样飞出去，叼起小鱼，贴着水面往远处飞走了——只有苇秆还在摇晃，水波还在荡漾。
翠鸟这么可爱，我们当然想捉一只来饲养。老渔翁劝我们还是别找了，因为它们的家在那小溪上面、陡峭的石壁上。老渔翁的话，让我们很惭愧。是啊，翠鸟从那么远的地方飞到这里来，是要和我们做朋友的，我们却要捉来玩，让它失去自由，会让它感到多么痛苦啊。
想到这里，我的脸上火辣辣的，跟伙伴们说，再也不要捉翠鸟，不要伤害它了。这样，在翠鸟飞来的时候，我们远远地看着它那美丽的羽毛，多么希望它在苇秆上多停一会儿。我在心里默默地说，翠鸟啊，你可要每天捉到很多小鱼儿，千万别饿了肚子啊！

got an idea. I ran home and opened my computer. I made a beautiful card and mailed him through the Internet. then I began to make supper. When father came home, he was very glad to find a big meal on the table. then I asked him to check his e-mail. He was amazed to find a beautiful card in his e-mail-box.
What a wonderful surprise!
