天安门广场，人潮欢涌，其情撼地震天；中华世纪坛，鼓乐高亢，其势排山倒海。曾经的坎坷化作今夜的辉煌
让时光倒流。
1993年9月23日，北京仅以两票之差与2000年奥运会失之交臂！当中国在悉尼奥运会上以金牌总数第三实现历史性突破的时候，当中国的综合国力一步步增强、人们的奥运情结越来越浓烈的时候，八年前的这一幕，仍如此真切地搅动着人们的心绪。
让时光倒流……
这一声声呼喊，在那个中国人被蔑称为“东亚病夫”的年代，是如此的悲壮与高昂。
让时光倒流。
1928年，荷兰阿姆斯特丹奥运会。看台上的中国全国体育协进会干事宋如海百感交集，反复用英语吟诵“奥林匹亚”，忽然喊出一句中国话：“我能比呀！”后来，他将奥林匹克运动会音译为“我能比呀”！
这不堪回首的一页，已被我们翻过。“坚定不移地走向世界”
前80年，积贫积弱，民不聊生；后80年，中国人民在中国共产党领导下，从最悲惨的境遇走上光明的道路。
在这个曾经苦难深重的国家，人民的爱国之情、强国之梦与体育是如此密不可分。
不能忘记，20世纪80年代，女排精神给人们带来的巨大鼓舞。“团结起来，振兴中华！”成为时代强音。从第23届洛杉矶奥运会的15枚金牌，到第27届悉尼奥运会的28枚金牌，中国当之无愧地成为国际公认的体育大国。
可是，“中国何时能自己举办一届奥运会？”———上世纪初，同胞的呼喊犹在耳际。
这是一个不畏惧任何艰险的民族。8年前北京申奥失利之后，人们高呼的口号是“坚定不移地走向世界”！
中国走向世界的脚步不可阻挡。奥运之梦牵系着中华民族为创造人类文明共同奋斗的理想。
人类一次智慧而诗意的选择
2000年9月9日。北京。
中国对人类的巨大贡献举世皆知。
“在北纬40度上下的'世界各大城市，只有北京是历经3000年而不衰的都城。古迹之多，胜过罗马；气魄之大，胜过巴黎。”
今日中国已成为最具潜力的新兴市场，谁能漠视这个巨大市场给予世界经济发展的强大动力？
“新北京，新奥运”，已不仅仅是响亮的口号。互联网已成为公众表达意见的窗口。在北京奥申委网站上，一次为支持北京申奥而举办的签名活动中，仅一个月签名者就达100万人。20多家民间环保组织加入北京申奥队伍；“绿色社区”活动，正由居民们自发推行。“人文奥运、绿色奥运、科技奥运”，正实实在在地成为中国赋予奥林匹克运动的崭新内涵。
1913年，“现代奥林匹克之父”顾拜旦寓意深远地为国际奥委会设计了“五环”标志，以象征五大洲通过体育紧密联系在一起。奥林匹克圣火就要在古老的中国燃烧。时间将证明，这是人类的一次智慧而诗意的选择。
1908———2008，从第一个中国人提出申办奥运会，到北京主办奥运会，历史的回声将穿越整整一百年。这看似巧合，却蕴含着历史的必然。

You must be greatly surprised when you get this letter, not from anyone else but from your dearest son, since I have never written a letter for ages in such a traditional way. The purpose of my writing is not so much to express my gratitude for bringing me up, as it is to tell you something about my college life.
It has been more than two years since I started my college life and I have adapted myself to the new environment here, even though at the very beginning, I was not quite used to it. My classmates are pretty friendly and they offer to help me whenever need be, which is really precious for me.
