因为她们性格不同，长相不同。女主人对女仆人很不满意，经常对女仆人拳脚相加，处处为难女仆人。可女仆人从不记恨，对女主人忠心耿耿，女主人提出任何要求都是尽量满足。
在一次为了给女主人找草莓的时候，偶然与兔子的相遇，使女仆人的命运发生了翻天覆地的变化。
在冰天雪地、白雪茫茫的寒冬，女主人的馋虫勾了上来，她非常想吃草莓。于是她让女仆人外出找草莓，女仆人犯愁了，在这冰天雪地、滴水成冰的冬天，哪儿会有草莓呢？女主人看到女仆人发愁的样子，生气极了。便对女仆人说：“你要是找不到草莓，就别想回来。”说着就叫手下把女仆人撵出门外，在这白雪皑皑、寒风刺骨的冬天，去哪里找草莓呢？女仆人伤心的哭了。
但是，找不到草莓女主人不让女仆人回家啊！女仆人只好走呀走，走了一会，她听到了有人在喊：“救命！救命！”她三步并成两步朝着喊声的方向跑过去。原来，有一只兔子被猎人追赶。女仆人把兔子放到准备去给主人找草莓的篮子里，等猎人过来，女仆人对猎人说：“兔子朝前面跑了。”猎人走了，兔子被女仆人救了下来，它非常感激，对女仆人说：“朋友，你救了我，我可以满足你的两个愿望。”
女仆人听了非常的高兴，对兔子说：“好吧！1、让我变的漂亮了，2、让我找到草莓。”
原来，兔子是上帝派来帮助女仆人的，兔子马上把女仆人变得十分美丽，她的篮子里也给变了满满一篮子草莓。
这时，兔子对女仆人说：“你的主人她心太狠了，上帝为了惩罚她，已经把她变成了一株带刺的花。”
女仆人听了以后，悲痛欲绝，马上带着草莓跑回主人的家。
善良的女仆人回到主人的家，她看到了一株带刺又美丽的花，女仆人明白这就是自己的主人，带刺说明主人的性格，美丽说明主人的样子。看到这些后，女仆人把草莓埋到了花盆里，伤心的哭了起来……
女仆人她不计较主人以前对她的所作所为，决心要以诚心让主人恢复原形。
女仆人把这株花叫做玫瑰花，和美、贵的音一样，表示主人美丽高贵。表示花儿每朵都华丽、富贵。
女仆人对那株花经常浇水、施肥，就像服侍主人一样服侍那株花。她从不间断，精心护理。女仆人的诚心感动了上帝，上帝又让她的主人恢复了原形。上帝为了让她的主人别忘了过去，在花盆里留了一些种子，让她们主仆把花种在院子里，留作纪念。主人十分感动女仆人对她的精心照料，她让女仆人成为她的好姐妹。从此再没有主仆之分，她们每天开开心心、高高兴兴成了一对令人羡慕的好姐妹。
她们种的玫瑰花也流传至今。现在，玫瑰花成了人与人之间表示深情厚谊的象征，成了人们互传爱心的象征。
