我和一名同学先来到了西面的一块田地，那里有一片片的田地和一座座水车。绿油油的蔬菜随风摇摆，好像在和我们招手似的。 我们顺着田埂便来到了一处水车面前。 我看了水车的说明书，才知道这水车是靠人转动水车的`把手来将水引入田地里的。
当时，正值烈日当头，晴空万里无云，我和那名同学不约而同对那台水车产生了浓厚的兴趣，我俩都气喘吁吁摇啊摇那把手，却依然不见有水舀出。他走开不知做什么去了，我仍旧摇水车的把手，还是不见水出，我仔细观察这个水车的结构，发现这水车中间有一个木制齿轮，靠它拉动一旁的链条和上面的板子，将水从河里引上来。 可是我却不知这个木制齿轮该向哪个方向转，于是便又开始试验，先是向顺时针方向转，再向逆时针方向转，可是我无论怎么转，水都上不来，受到打击的我只好向一直在旁观的同学说这个水车是坏的。
“哦，我来试试，我就不信这个水车还会坏。”他说道。 “你试就试，看你能试出什么来！”我漫不经心的说道。 说完我便转身准备离开。 “等等。”他喊道。 等就等我还不信他能搞出什么花样来。我坐在田埂上喝水， 只见他奋力的抓住水车的把手，一人高宽的木制齿轮在他的手中下缓缓转动，一分钟，两分钟，三分钟……五分钟过去了，小河中的水竟然奇迹般上来了，快速流入渠道，进入了农田。我很不解，放下水瓶凑到他面前请教，他告诉我，因为我刚才河面上的一些绿萍、杂草、 沙石没有被弄开，再有时间转的时间不够，所以才转不出水来。
