当运动会开始的时候，主持人说：今天的运动会，首先是赛跑，现在请参加比赛的勇士们出来。这时从动物群中，跑出两只动物，是蜗牛慢慢和小狗哈利。它们两个都站在起跑线上，鼠裁判看它们准备好了就把手、枪一按，接着就发出叭！的一声。这两只动物一听到枪声，就努力地向前跑。因为小狗哈利的.腿较长，所以一两步就赢了蜗牛慢慢。而蜗牛慢慢要用身体爬，所以刚开始就输给了小狗哈利。后来它们跑到独木桥，虽然蜗牛慢慢爬得很慢，可是它是爬独木桥的高手。而小狗哈利却不会爬独木桥，差一点掉下河里，眼看着小狗哈利输给蜗牛慢慢了。
虽然爬独木桥的时候，小狗哈利输给蜗牛慢慢，可是前面是一座高山，小狗哈利可是爬山高手，而蜗牛慢慢因为走路太慢了，所以又输给小狗哈利。小狗哈利爬山很快，眼看着就要拿到冠军了。这时蜗牛慢慢正好爬上山顶，从山顶往下一看好像滑梯一样。于是蜗牛慢慢灵机一动，想出了一个办法，就把身体一缩变成了一个圆圆的东西，从山顶滚下去。小狗哈利听到蜗牛慢慢滚下来的声音，以为是山顶上的小石头掉下来了，赶紧往旁边一跳。这时，蜗牛慢慢正好从小狗哈利的脚旁滚到终点线前，它再用力一爬，就爬过了终点线。最后蜗牛慢慢得到了奖杯。
