《留侯论》一文说的是与韩信、萧何并列为“汉初三杰”的谋士张良。
张良出身于贵族世家，祖父开地，连任战国时韩国三朝的宰相。韩国的灭亡，使张良失去了继承父亲事业的机会和显赫荣耀的地位，他心存亡国亡家之恨，并把这种仇恨集中于一点——反秦。他结交刺客，在秦始皇必经之路上埋伏等待，想要击***他，未遂，被悬榜通缉，不得不埋名隐姓，逃难到他处。
一天，张良在桥边散步时，遇见一位穿着粗布短袍的老翁，他走到张良的身边时，故意把鞋踢落桥下，然后傲慢地差使张良道：“小子，下去给我捡鞋！”张良愕然，但还是忍着心中的不满，替他取了上来。随后，老人又跷起脚来，命张良给他穿上。张良还是强压怒火，膝跪于前，留意翼翼地帮老人穿好鞋。老人非但不谢，反而大笑而去。张良呆视良久，只见那老翁走出里许之地，又回到桥上，对张良赞道：“孺子可教矣。”并约张良5日后的凌晨再到桥头相会。张良不知何意，但还是恭敬地跪地应诺。

我也是个无法忍耐的人，如果有人说我一句坏话，我定会反说他两句；如果有人打我一下，我也绝对不会客气。但是自从读到这一篇《留侯论》后，我才明白：忍耐不是软弱，乃是大度；忍耐并非投降，而是胜利。
其实，人无完人，审视一下自己，我们就没有理由对周围的一切都那么苛刻。一个人的成熟度，在很大程度上表现为他的忍耐程度。学会忍耐，会让生活更加简单；学会忍耐，我们会少一些浮躁，多一些思考；学会忍耐，我们不会再为小事烦恼。
