蝎子和蛇在沙漠里共同盯上了一只猎物，那就是蜥蜴，蝎子警告蛇说：“快让开，不然我释放毒液，到时候你就活不成了。”
蛇不以为然的说：“这只猎物是我的，你才是让开，不然我会把你咬死，我的牙齿也是有毒的。”
蝎子和蛇谁也不打算退后让步，蜥蜴被这两条凶狠要猎食自己的家伙，吓的不知道该怎么办，蜥蜴急中生智想出了一个办法，蜥蜴说：“我知道我逃不出你们的手掌心，最后一定会成为你们的口中食，可我只有一个，不如你们比试一下谁的毒液厉害，你们相互把毒液注射到对方体内，先倒下的就输了，最后没事的那个，我甘愿做它的食物，被它吃掉。”
蛇和蝎子上了蜥蜴的当，相信了它说的话，相互把毒液注射到对方的体内，没过一会蛇和蝎子就被对方的毒液给毒死了，蜥蜴嘲笑它们的愚蠢说：“你们俩个为了吃掉我，一定会尽力把所有的毒液都注入到对方的体内，又怎么可能会活下来。”
最后蛇和蝎子成为了蜥蜴的猎物，被蜥蜴吃掉。
