春天，榴树抽出嫩芽，远远望去，整个榴园笼罩在紫色烟雾中。夏天，“五月榴花红胜火”，你如果登上“一望亭”，万亩榴园尽收眼底，到处都是红色的.海洋。微风吹来，榴枝摇曳，树上红花绿叶，榴海扬波；树下泉水叮咚，流泉飞瀑；溪边，“石榴仙子”轻歌曼舞，笑靥如花。时而牧鞭清脆，余音回荡；时而少女嬉戏，笑语连珠，令人有飘飘欲仙之感。秋天，熟透了的石榴乐得合不拢嘴，露出颗颗珍珠般的皓齿，粒粒相聚，亲密无间。难怪人们常把石榴作为“团结”“祥和”的象征赠亲送友，以至石榴身价倍增，成为当地人们一大经济来源。冬天，鹅毛大雪纷纷落下，银装素裹，雪树银花，整个榴园成了一个粉妆玉砌的世界。
石榴园内以石榴为主，但也有千年古檀、天然石洞等点缀期间，给万亩榴园增添异彩。妇孺皆知的“凿壁偷光”的汉丞相匡衡之墓，明代文学家贾三进遗墨的“石屋山泉”，明永乐皇帝朝鲜族爱妃的“娘娘坟”，女娲炼石补天的“红土埠遗址”等名胜古迹数不胜数。其中，隐身绿树碧涛中的青檀古寺更负盛名。
青檀寺三山环绕，一水把门。东西两面的悬崖峭壁上生长着青檀树，其发达的根系遍布在粒土不存、光滑如冰的岩石上。偶尔有一两条镶嵌在石缝中，无论旱涝，此树均如苍松翠柏，郁郁葱葱，似雄鹰搏兔、巨龙探海般俯视山涧，其生命力之旺盛，虬枝铁杆之英姿，绝不亚于黄山迎客松。每到夏天，峭壁上的青檀树遮天蔽日，树为寺增色，寺因树得名，寺、树、榴园相应增辉。
