他来到了麦田，看见麦子还是绿油油的`，心想：这个讨厌的春姑姑，走了就走了，还留下了纪念。秋姑娘越想越可气，她决定来个“大变麦子”，她拿来洒水壶，把雨滴和黄色的颜料搅混了，就洒了出去（就是下雨了）一束束麦子变黄了，可是，旁边的叶子也被他变黄了。农民们一个接着一个来抢收麦子。秋姑娘不知自己做错了什么，以为别人来找她算账了，立刻不见了踪影。
你找去，原来秋姑娘来到了果园，你瞧，她在一棵苹果树下乘凉，乘凉乘够了。她就给苹果讲笑话，你看，她把一个个苹果给逗笑了，苹果们捧腹大笑，笑红了脸，一个个变红了；此时，她想到了自己带了水彩笔，马上拿出紫色，给葡萄谈装浓抹，葡萄们一个个变成了紫色；她又拿出橘色，立刻给橘子染成了橘色……
直到夕阳西下，他想在群片群片的火烧云里，做起了甜美的梦。

最后，那年青人因盗窃罪被判入狱。十年之后，当他被放出来的时候，额头上多了几道皱纹，已不像原来那样英俊，潇洒。就好象从青年直接跨入了老年。
这时的他还念念不忘那颗蓝宝石，回到了他熟悉的珠宝店，发现那颗宝石还放在原位，上面还是有厚厚的一层灰。他不知为什么这颗蓝宝石还没卖出去，于是不禁的问起了我的父亲。
