It happened shortly after this that the Lion was caught by some hunters, who bound him by strong ropes to the ground. The Mouse, recognizing his roar, came up, and gnawed the rope with his teeth, and setting him free, exclaimed: "You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you, not expecting to receive from me any repayment of your favour; but now you know that it is possible for even a Mouse to confer benefits on a Lion."

南瓜园的初秋,跑进了七只野老鼠,他们正在逃避一只可怕的大猫。他们冲进了层层叠叠的绿色南瓜藤和南瓜叶,上面正结满了又大又圆的南瓜。
Early autumn in the pumpkin garden, there came seven wide mice escaping from a big and terrifying cat. They rushed into green vines and leaves aplenty with big and round pumpkins.
高傲的猫就像无头苍蝇一样四处寻找但一无所获,最后只好灰溜溜地走了。
The prideful cat hunted around like a chicken with its head cut off in vain and finally left in dismay.

它们回到了家才看见啤酒瓶底儿被一大群猫给包围了，于是老鼠们就去救它。结果老鼠国王被抓了，老鼠们去找猫国王，猫国王正要把老鼠国王吃了，幸好老鼠们及时赶到，经过浴血奋战，老鼠们把国王救了出来。
老鼠们又发现它们的城堡也被毁了。于是它们又盖了一个新家，里面非常漂亮。老鼠国王经过这次的事件，总结了经验教训，不能过分虚荣讲排场，要团结一致才能抵御外敌。于是，国王重新颁布了九十九条法律，进行了一系列改革，国家越来越强大了，从此它们过上了幸福的生活。

国王说：“好了，好了，大家都不要争论了，就算争到天黑，电影又不会重新放，我们还是回去吧。”大家一回去发现啤酒瓶底儿在城堡边哭，国王问啤酒瓶底儿，你为什么哭，啤酒瓶底儿连忙说：“大王，刚刚来了一只又肥又胖的猫把我们的食物全拿走了，还把我们的城堡糟蹋了。”国王说：“什么！那只猫把我们辛辛苦苦搭的城堡糟蹋了，我要去报仇。”结果，国王一去就被猫抓了，猫给老鼠们还写了一封信，信上说：“如果你们三分钟后不要救你们的国王，它就会被我吃了！”老鼠们看完以后，就马上行动，但到了门口，有一只老鼠说：“既然要去救国王就应该穿的.漂亮一点。”等它们换完服装以后，有一只老鼠说：“既然要去救国王就应该有音乐。”老鼠们请来了乐队奏乐，可这时又一只老鼠说：“国王说过我们要守纪律。”但老鼠忘了时间，一到那儿国王就被猫吃了。大家又开始互相指责起来说：“都怪你们几个非要换什么衣服。”“都怪你们几个，非要请乐队。”“都怪你们几个非要守什么纪律。”说着说着冒出一只老鼠说：“大家之前看电影的时候就是因为我们一直在说，才没有看到电影的，这次也是因为我们一直在说，我们的国王才被吃掉的。”听了这只老鼠的话，大家都惭愧的低下了头。
