大家认识我吗？我长着两只又大又圆的眼睛，锐利的爪子，坚硬带钩的嘴，圆圆的脸和一双宽大的翅膀，与众不同的是我的头部上侧左右各长着一丛毛，很像猫耳朵。你们猜猜我是谁？
对了！我就是鼠类的克星、田园的卫士--猫头鹰。
人家都在电视、画报上见过我们，对我们并不陌生。我们住在郊外或田野的树上，白天休息，晚上出来觅食。我们的眼睛在白天没有多少用处，是个睁眼瞎，但一到晚上，我们的双眼能洞察一切，在黑暗的林间或田野中准确地发现诡秘的鼠类行踪，无论多么狡猾的老鼠也休想在我们的爪下逃生。
我们的翅膀也很特别，翅膀的骨头中间是空的，而且非常大，这样我们能够轻盈地飞起，无声无息地接近捕猎目标，以至于它们往往还没有发觉，就做了阶下囚。
我们猫头鹰是候鸟，冬天，我们到气候温暖、食物充足的'南方去过冬，等到春天来了，我们再回到北方繁殖后代，壮大我们的队伍。
我们的种类有十多种，我们的踪迹遍及世界各地。我们这个庞大的家族，抑制着鼠类带给人类与自然的灾害。不信，你瞧！我们每只猫头鹰一个晚上能吃十五只老鼠，这样一年就能吃五千多只老鼠，这是一个多么惊人的数字呀！当人类的食粮受到保护，减少了财产被鼠咬的破坏，危及人类生命的鼠疫得以控制，人们不会忘记这里也有猫头鹰的一份功劳吧！
当然功不必自论，我们只希望成为人类的朋友。可遗憾的是，有的人把我们视为灾星，什么夜猫子进宅，祸事到来，这是个别人的偏见，我们不计较；可气的是，有些人大肆砍伐树木，使我们无家可归；更不能容忍的是，有的人用各种器具对我们肆意捕***，照这样继续下去，我们这些鼠类克星就会面临灭绝的危险。我们保护着人类，而威胁我们生命的却恰恰来自于人类。
人类——我们的朋友！你们想到没有，当我们在地球上消失之时，就是鼠害成灾之日。到那时，庄稼被破坏，财物被咬食，鼠疫横行威胁人类生命，再想起我们岂不晚矣！大自然不止一次地向人类发出警告，谁破坏生态平衡，谁就会受到无情的惩罚！
我们真诚希望人类不要再向我们举起屠刀，猫头鹰和人类永远是最亲密的朋友，让我们共同努力消灭鼠害，让世界变得更美好！
