小猕猴没走几步，忽听背后传来“噗通”一声，小猕猴转身看时，发现小黄狗在水中泡水。小猕猴知道，如果不是遇到什么危险，小黄狗一般不会到水中去。可是，小猕猴看看周围，既没发现有人追赶小黄狗，也没发现有野兽攻击小黄狗，小猕猴感到有些奇怪了。
“小黄狗，快上来！”小猕猴又返回河边说，“天要下雨了，怎么又跳到水里去了呢！”
“谢谢你！”小黄狗说，“我知道要下雨了。”
“你怎么知道要下雨的呢？”
“天气闷热，就是要下雨的前兆。”小黄狗说，“你可能不知道吧，我们狗身上没有汗腺，炎热时不能靠毛孔散热，只有靠张嘴、搭拉舌头散热来保持恒温，可现在是嘴和舌头都无济于事了，我只好跳到水里泡水，来帮助散热。”
“噢，原来是这样！”小猕猴高兴地说，“谢谢你，小青蛙，我这就给山林居民报告天气情况去。”
