本片主要讲述了一个五口之家---爸爸妈妈是工作达人，大儿子是正处于青春期的叛逆少年，小儿子是懵懂的孩童，还有奶奶。父母忙于工作，疏忽了孩子。每当面对做错事的孩子，身心疲惫的父母只有非打即骂。孩子跟父母之间渐渐的衍生出一道不可逾越的鸿沟。即使父母为孩子创造多么好的物质生活都不能拉近彼此的距离。就这样，家里不是温馨的，学校里老师也只是一味的责备，冰冷的语言浇熄了学生心中所有的希望。还有另一个单亲家庭，下岗的父亲带着儿子生活，不善表达爱意的父亲，用拳头打散了亲情……一系列的问题发生之后，人们(父母，老师恍然大悟---原来"好"孩子仅仅需要多一点的爱，耐心，鼓励和宽容。影片中老师把"不争气"的学生叫做没用的"烂苹果",末尾有这样一幕：医院里，校长跟一个老师看见一个家长教育自己的孩子不要把烂掉的苹果扔掉，因为用刀削去烂掉的部分，苹果一样可以吃，但是扔掉了，就浪费了，不会再有机会！就像学生，就像孩子，当他们犯错时，老师和父母的打骂是对他们的否定，是对他们的放弃……
