直到第三天四更大雾漫天，诸葛亮请鲁肃一起去取箭。诸葛亮下令把船头朝西，船尾朝东，一字排开，又叫船上的军士一边擂鼓，一边大声呐喊。曹操听到，只叫士兵放箭。箭好像下雨一样。诸葛亮又下令把船掉过来，再次受箭。
天渐渐亮了，二十条船顺风顺水驶回南岸，曹操想追也追不上了。
周瑜拿到箭后，直佩服诸葛亮神机妙算。
