课上讲到《简爱》，对《简爱》不了解的我回去看了《简爱》的书，感受颇深，发现在作品主线以外，还涉及到四个人的死，虽然不是最重要的部分，但在文中的作用也不可小视。
这四个人是：简幼年时的朋友海伦·彭斯，她一度憎恨的里德姨妈，关照她的里德舅舅，以及全书最末她的表哥传教士圣·约翰。其中海伦·彭斯和圣·约翰的死都带有强烈的宗教色彩。在我看来，简·爱尽管很明显地对这两个都很崇敬，但海伦与她却是在性格上大相径庭的——简是乐于反抗的，而海伦显然极为逆来顺受。因而时至今日，我依然并不太理解海伦在简心中到底处在什么位置，抑或是简不安的内心也对那种平静有强烈的向往？
对于圣·约翰，序言中说他“实际上不过是要取得绝对支配别人的权力而已”，坦白说我以为序言对这个人物的种种评价是有失偏颇的。至少从原作中我们可以看出，虽然简对圣·约翰对她的支配感到不快，但这本身似乎并非她要批判的真正对象。我认为作品中还有一个不起眼的人物其实与圣约翰有着密不可分的联系：她在里德府的大表姐伊丽莎。
从表面上看，他们都将生命献给信仰（伊丽莎最终成为修道院院长，而圣则去东方传教并客死他乡），而且或多或少地由于信仰而过分让理智主宰自己，具有按部就班的性格。从内心来讲，他们却形成了十分鲜明的对照：伊丽莎似乎给人以“看破红尘，遁入空门”的感觉，并且我们从书中对她由普通富家千金转为修女的思想历程难以做深入了解，只能猜测这多少与家道中落有关（尽管书中无论伊丽莎本人还是作为叙述者的简·爱都完全没有提到这两件事的因果关系），由此我们大致可以得出结论：她的心是较为宁静的，当然同时也很冷酷。
她好象是离这本书主要故事很远的一个谜。与之相比，圣·约翰的一切行动无刻不在表明他心中火热的欲念。也许作者在对他描写的过程中，尤其是前半部分，将他写得难以了解；然而最终读者能通过简·爱的眼睛将他看得赤裸裸。他并不是一个常人，不光由于他的行为非常人可做，更是由于他甚至无法引起我们一种较为清晰的感情——可爱？可憎？可悲？兼而有之？其实他就是我们每个人为***而奋斗的那一部分，他就是***的奴隶，而决非他一再认为的“主的忠实的仆人”。
《简爱》的最后几句中说：“下一次，将会由一个不相识者写信给我，通知我，这个善良忠实的仆人终于被召唤去享受她的主的欢乐了……阿门。主耶稣啊，我愿你来！”从此我们更可以看出，从某种意义上说，他生的目的即是换来死后的欢乐，这便是他一生中最大的***。为之从付出了一切——爱情，婚姻，甚至生命。他的血肉之躯只是他灵魂的工具。我但愿他早点死，因为在我眼中，尽管他有明确的生活目的，但她是不快乐乃至痛苦的。
关于里德舅舅，全书着笔不多，老实说，还只是在写到里德姨妈死时才多提了几句。但我赞同序言中的观点：作者对舅舅的描写是相当成功的。若由简来流溢感激之辞，或其他人来将之大肆颂扬，都不免显得矫情；正是通过最不理解他的人——里德姨妈的口，方才使之显得真实与生动。
谈到姨妈，我认为，如果这本书只是像其他的苦命孩故事那样渲染其不公，那么《简·爱》就不配成为一流的文学作品。事实上，对于不幸童年的描写，均是在给《简·爱》的非同寻常的个性以合理的解释。在此我又不禁想，简最终彻底原谅她的姨妈，到底出于什么？本心的善良？我想其实在很早时她已开始学会原谅她，而这，似乎理应归功于海伦·彭斯。这一点在本书中并不特别明显，但勃洛克赫斯特先生叫她站在长椅上示众后与海伦的交谈中也有所体现。姨妈至死对简充满敌意，这无疑是她的悲哀。
这是我对《简·爱》一书中一些内容肤浅的'解读。爱情、亲情和怜爱之心是人类最丰厚也是最重要的精神财富。缺了它，等于白活一世。学会爱人，感恩很重要。

It's my honour to get the chance to write to you. "Approachable" is my first impression of you, because you always keeps smiling. Students may fear the teachers that are serious both in and out of class. Smile makes a teacher popular with his students, you are a teacher of this very kind.
You always arrive at the classroom ahead of any of the students, from which we could imply that you are a diligent man with regular habit. Before the class, you like to talk to us, at this very time, you are more a friend than a teacher. To be honest, I was surprised in the first class when I learned a teacher at your age could speak English in such a fluent way.(I didn't mean you are old, you're young at heart. Moreover, you know well how to keep your class attractive. You've got such an active mind that you can keep talking during the whole class without a pause. I always appreciated your ideas and enjoyed listening to you. In your class, I learned not only the writing skills but also the presentation skills as well as much knowledge of other areas. Thanks for your excellent teaching.
I've got some suggestions for you. It seems that we students have got few chances to participate in discussion during the class time. Most of the time, we are listening. Seldom did we express our own ideas. I suggest that teachers should interact with students more frequently in the class. Besides, I'd like to practice writing more, so would you please leave us more assignments?

简爱这篇文章给我最深的感受就是简爱的感情观，感情是一辈子的事情，抛开外貌，身材我们更要追求的是内心的共鸣，所以我觉得简爱是一个独立的女性，是值得拥有幸福的女性，因为她懂得什么是爱，现在很多女生选择男朋友的标准是帅，这种情况不仅仅出现在女生身上，对于男生也是一样的标准，对于外贸协会的会员我觉得最终他们都会丢失自己的爱情。
因为他们在开始的时候并没有找到爱情的本质，爱情的本质是两个人的内在，我们要寻找的是即使你的容貌改变之后，你的爱人依然被你的内在吸引，对你不离不弃，这样的爱情才会长久，时间可以改变每个人的容貌，对于每个人来说都有昙花一现的时候，相比较外在我们更加要追求内心的需求，如果你想要一段持久的爱，那就寻找可以跟自己产生共鸣的人吧，如果你想追求的是光鲜的感情，那就继续做外貌协会的会员吧。
