春节，是我们中华民族的传统节日，也是小孩子们最喜欢的一天。它代表着团圆、幸福、平安、万象更新。
在这一天，小孩子、大人们个个都穿起了新衣服。大人们忙着贴红红的对联，忙着做年菜，到处飘着酒肉的香味。小孩子们又吵又闹，欢声笑语，到处是一片喜气洋洋的景象。中午，妈妈在桌上摆上了丰盛的菜。有鱼肉、鸡肉、猪肉等许多好吃的让人垂涎欲滴。这一顿团年饭，是一年之中最重要的聚餐，这一天，无论是在哪里的人，都要赶回来跟亲人团聚，与家人共享天伦之乐！
晚上吃完发后，小孩子们收完压岁钱后，就迫不及待地去玩鞭炮了。在阵阵鞭炮声里，我了解到过年烧鞭炮的来历：传说在很久很久以前，我国南方有一座山，漫山遍野长满了竹子。山上有一种怪物，名字叫“年”。每到新年临近时，这种怪物就会下山到村子里偷人们的东西吃。凡是与怪物接近过的人不是冷的瑟瑟发抖，就是浑身出汗，难受极了。这样的现象持续了一段时间后，我们的祖先都想着各种办法对付这个怪物。
大家正苦于无法对付这个怪物时，碰到一件意外的事：一次，几个村民到山上砍竹子，肚子饿了，就用几个竹筒煮饭吃，恰好，这时几个怪物下山来觅食，燃烧的竹筒发出“哔哔剥剥”的响声，吓得远处的几个怪物竟不敢走近。有个机灵的村民又在火里添加了不少的竹子，“哔剥”声更响了，吓得怪物拼命往山里逃。人们看到这样的景象，于是总结了经验。从此，每逢过年，人们就要烧竹子来吓跑怪物，以求安宁。
燃放鞭炮的习俗，我国早就有了，到了唐朝，火药已经得到广泛的应用，用竹筒做鞭炮不大方便，有人想到了火药。他们仿照竹筒的样子，用纸卷成一个个纸筒，把火药放进纸筒一点火，就会发出“嘭啪”的响声，因此，春节放鞭炮的习俗一直延续到现在。“炮竹声中除旧岁”表达了一直以来共同的主题，那就是——幸福安康。
春节真是一个乐趣无穷的日子，到处张灯结彩、敲锣打鼓，让人流连忘返。作为一个中国人，我要继承中国的优良传统，把春节的精神发扬得更好！
