山前有座庙，山后有块荒地。这天，师父带着小和尚扛着锄头，来到了荒地锄草。小和尚说：“师父，我们除掉这些杂草在上面种什么呢?”师父说：“种花!”小和尚很吃惊地说：“除草种花，谁来看呢?”师父说：“山外的人呀!”小和尚满脸疑惑地说：“为什么必须种花?”师父说：“为了庙里的香火!”小和尚不解了，为了香火就必须种花，种花和香火有关系吗?庙里香火不盛，这山后又能有几人来?

几天后，师徒俩除完草，在荒地上撒了许多花种。过了一段时间，从荒地里钻出来许多花种新芽，师父就带着小和尚给新芽浇水。一年过去了，那些花种都长成了一株株花树。等到第三年，几乎所有的花树都开花了，一片一片的花，争奇斗艳。山外的人，呼朋唤友地来看花。与此同时，人们又开始络绎不绝地到庙里上香了。

小和尚看到这一切，不由得佩服起师父来，他觉得师父当初在荒地种花是多么睿智：有了花，就有了看花的人;有了看花的人，就有了香客。为别人种花，其实也是为自己种花。

很多事情是相辅相成的，为别人种花，其实也是为自己种花，和赠人玫瑰手有余香的道理是一样的。

小伙伴们回来后看到小刺猬把毒蛇给刺死了，大伙都说："多亏你救了我们!""小刺猬真了不起!"
