亲爱的爷爷：
您好!
每当我想起您送给我的座右铭“不孝则不仁，不仁则不义，不义则不忠。”的时候，便记起了您对我的爱。爷爷，谢谢您，想起您对我说的每一句话、每一个故事都如同那大树，深深的在我心里扎下了根。因为有您的存在，我的世界才有了光彩。
您还记得您是如何教我“谢谢”的吗?小时候，我和您一起去买好吃的，那时候您刚领到政府发的200元，就带我去买东西吃，还对我说“今天你就敞开肚皮吃吧，不论多贵都给你买。”我抱着刚买的一大堆东西，心里乐的像吃了蜜糖似的，恨不得一下子把这堆食物全都吃光。可是，上天好像故意捉弄我一样，一不小心，东西如同落下的烟花掉在地上。这时，一位好心的阿姨把它们拣了起来，捡完之后我连忙跑到您的身边。于是，您半蹲着对我说：“瑶瑶，阿姨帮助你把东西捡起来了，你怎么不说声谢谢?”我摇了摇头，那位阿姨连忙说：“不用了，大爷，一点小事，举手之劳而已。”您对那位阿姨笑了笑，然后一本正经的对我说：“瑶瑶，你知道么?‘谢谢’有多少，爱就有多少。假如把这个‘谢谢’放在天平上，相信一座大山也难以超出它的分量。有时，一千句，一万句的感激之情，都凝聚在‘谢谢’这两个字上了。”我头听完之后明白了其中的道理，转身就给阿姨一个甜甜的微笑和一句“谢谢您，阿姨”。阿姨笑了笑对我说：“不客气，小姑娘，看你爷爷把你教的多好呀”。我们爷俩对视一阵之后笑了。
您还记得您让我学会如何尊重别人吗?有一次，您给我讲“孔融让梨”的故事，告诉我：“你应该像孔融一样学会尊重别人，别人才会尊重你，这样你才会得到最大的快乐，知道吗?”我点了点头。吃完晚饭后，妈妈洗了几个苹果，让我们姐弟三个来拿，我等他们拿完之后拿了一个最小的苹果。妈妈诧异地看着我说;“平常你都抢着拿一个又红又大的苹果，现在怎么……”我笑了笑说;“今天，爷爷给我讲了一个“孔融让梨”的故事，告诉我尊重别人，就能得到别人的尊重。”说完之后却发现，大家很明显的都被我的这番话给“震到”了。
您还记得您是怎样教我爱别人的吗?有一天，家里没有人，我饿得发慌，您于是买了两个肉馅的包子。当我狼吞虎咽地吃第二个包子的时候，发现您买的包子全被我一个人吃了，我羞愧地问：“爷爷，您怎么不吃呀?”爷爷说：“我不饿你快吃吧，吃饱了好长个子。”其实，我知道您也很饿了。您每天忙来忙去消耗体力最大，而且您身上还有病。这是我长大以来吃过最香的一次饭，嚼在嘴里，仿佛吃的不是包子而是您的爱和您的汗水。从那时起，我就明白：我要像您一样爱别人，把自己最珍贵的东西献给别人。这样别人也会在你遇到困难的时候伸出援助之手来帮助你。您让我知道了爱的可贵。
爷爷，您饱经沧桑，历尽千辛万苦去挣钱，让我不愁吃不愁穿。其实每当我去花钱的时候，我都很不舍得，因为我知道这钱来之不易，是您用汗水和劳动换来的。您慈祥的面孔、亲切和蔼的目光都深深地印在了我的脑海，让我挥也挥不去。您的教诲和您的语气至今还在我的耳边萦绕。是您让我的世界有了喜怒哀惧;是您让我懂得了人身的价值;是您让我的世界有了色彩斑斓。
爷爷，谢谢您，让我明白了“谢谢”比黄金还贵重比珍珠还宝贵;让我学会了尊重别人其实是尊重自己，让我知道如果一个人没有了自尊，那么他将会变成一个连废人都不如的东西了;让我懂得了爱别人的重大含义，让我知道如果失去了亲人对自己的爱，就如同灰沉沉的天空没有了太阳;如同一片黑暗的夜晚没有了星星和月亮;如同花儿失去了养料、小草失去了水源。爷爷，您所给我的一切是我用一辈子也报答不完的。因为您的存在，我的生活充满了世外桃源的美好。谢谢您，爷爷!

I am afraid that you will think me unpardonably negligent in not having answered your letter dated 7, December sooner, but when I have told you the reason, I trust you will be convinced that the neglect was excusable. When your letter arrived, I was just in Hong Kong. As my family could not forward it to me during my absence, it has been, therefore, lying on my desk until the moment when I took it up. Now the first thing I have to hasten to do is to write to you these few lines to express my deep regret.
I enjoyed many pleasant sights during my trip. I shall be pleased to give you an account to of them when I see you next.
